For work related stuff on Monday and Tuesday of next week, 12/1-12/3.

Any suggestions? Aside from walking to the sears/willis tower and taking a selfie there.

Best local deep dish pizza? Lou Malnati's... Giordano's? Company's paying food reimbursements for anything under $60 a day, so I'll be sure to utilize that.

Any sight seeing?

I'm not going anywhere South of downtown. The work site and hotel is in a nice little corner of the city on the northwest side, called Rosemont.

I'm curious how good Rick Bayless' restaurants there are. Every time I make one of his recipes at home it's fucking incredible whether it's pollo asado, pozole, mole poblano, charro beans, etc.

You called it a corner of the city. It’s not. It’s the suburbs. That would be like saying Sccherzt is part of San Antonio. Anyway hopefully you accidentally roam into one of the shitty areas near there.

Even in that event he’d be fine, the cops there are overprotective of white out-of-towners who get lost :lol

The one time I was in Chicago I made a wrong turn, ended up in a really shitty area and before I knew it I got pulled over by a cop who asked me if I was lost. After I said I was lost he called another cop over and I basically had a motorcade escort me back to my hotel :lol

Maybe. I only have 2 nights there. I'm driving thru KC so want to get authentic KC food in KC (Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ is on the agenda) and I want authetic CHI food in Chicago, which naturally leads me to deep dish pizza.

I'm a little leery about the place when I googled it because it's a bit south of downtown, also a little far from my worksite, and for some reason I can't seem to find the Trulia crime heat map that has been handy dandy for me when traveling the past several years.

also I could get chicken wings just about anywhere. Wings are ubiquitous but I guess Buffalo and Atlanta are probably *MOST* known for wings out of all major US cities. When I was in Buffalo w/family in Summer 2009 I made sure we got buffalo wings there and tim horton's donuts, tbh, two huge staples there. It's too bad I didn't know about beef and weck back then, missed out on that.

It’s not about how much you spend daily, when you’re traveling you’re not buying groceries, you’re eating out every meal. $60 a day is pretty stingy imo, $20 a meal in an expensive city like Chicago doesn’t give a lot of flexibility.

Sure, but it all depends on the area. The closest Chilli here is in Inglewood, 20+ mins LA traffic.

Take good restaurants in the area like BJ or Lucille's in the Westfield Mall, you're looking at $40 min, $60 if you get some alcohol. They're good, not great restaurants.

And honestly, room service is not out of the question either, and that can run some bills too, tbh.

But hey, everywhere is different. It just sounded a bit on the low side, tbh... haven't been to Chicago, so not sure what things cost over there.

Trubisky land is fun. And for the short bus crew like Chucho and Mitch , a mod like Chinook can probably verify I'm posting from illinois servers.

Won $120 at the casino placing 2nd at a sit and go hold em tournament. Deep dish pizza at gino's east and lou malnati's, all reimbursable by the company. Illinois women > Texas women. And it's nice to see a city that has the balls to decorate the city with Christmas decorations, not to mention a place where it actually feels like December in December. Life is good tbh

I didn't eat breakfast (I rarely ever do anyway because I despise American breakfast food, too greasy, processed, sweet, starchy, stomach-irritating and unhealthy IMO) and the office provided sandwiches for lunch one day and Chipotle for the other. They also provided free Coke and Canada Dry Ginger Ale so I never needed to buy drinks.

So it's basically just a nice dinner every day.

Yea, but aren't you working to partly pay for your food costs anyhow? I guess it just depends. I can't say a business should be expected to pay for your tequila shots in terms of food allowance.

When I went through Chicago a while back I upon the advice of a friend (a former native) found probably the only quality pizza restaurant (an upscale looking place) with waiters etc that offered a solid personal pizza for less than $20. But I think it was the lunch special is why. Everywhere else even then was pretty much over $50, so I guess I know what you're talking about.

Agreed. Things like alcohol should be self paid because they are completely optional and not at all necessary for energy & survival. This company is lenient about it, but at least half of major companies will deduct the alcohol charges off the tab and not reimburse it. One I know of even did not reimburse for dessert.

In Chicago. How often am I in Chicago? Never. I'm eating Chicago food in Chicago and premium BBQ in Kansas City.

***(Bears play the Chiefs next week !! Fate taking me to Dallas, KC and Chicago when the Bears played both Dallas and KC is evidence that I'm supernatural )***

At home, I eat lots of greek salads and regular healthy stuff, meats, limit starch & sugar, etc. But when I'm out, yeah I'll get what I want. At least I don't drink alcohol, tbh.

Millennial_Messiah

Also, what is a "healthy" and tasty "breakfast"? Much of the world eats fish and vegetables for breakfast, but the West scoffs at that.

I personally scoff at disgusting things like greasy eggs, greasy bacon, greasy jimmy dean breakfast sausage, greasy breakfast sausage patties, starchy pancakes/waffles with sugary high fructose corn syrup with "maple" flavoring, starchy and often greasy hashbrowns (though that's probably my favorite of the worst), sugary muffins, starchy white bagels with sugary jam and jelly, etc.

Each egg has 1.6 grams of saturated fat and 3.4 grams of unsaturated fat (oil). It's impossible to make non-greasy eggs.
