bertans continues to be one of the best shooters around
just another idiotic decision that ignores what the modern NBA is.

our D is awful anyways, you know what makes your D worse? bricking a bunch of shots and generating fast breaks

Yes, but oddly, Bertans has gone ball hawking a couple times against Leonard, and has given him a hard time.

I don't understand why Demarre was brought in if they had no purpose to include him into the rotation. Was he just suppose to be that veteran on the bench to replace Pondexter and Cunningham? Even though I no longer want Morris after the shit he pulled, why didn't they go after him from the start? With Bertans still traded and not signing Demarre and Lyles, they should have been able to offer roughly what the Knicks did.

Davis Bertans is shooting 44% from 3 this season on 7.5 attempts per game. He is averaging 12.8 PPG

Nah, there's no way he'd come back here, after getting a chance on a team that respects what he can do and lets him play.

This is the truth nuke of the thread. The only players who come back are on their way out of the league like Marco.

No. SA had only $10M to offer, not one penny more even available. The Knicks offered $15M, so MM bailed and went to play for a shit team.
People need to stop blaming PATFO for MM's lack of intelligence. PATFO tried to put together a good team, and MM threw an air pump into their spokes. Not their fault.

We had both under contract then Marcus Morris happened. We essentially traded Bert for Lyles.

That's not one of the main reasons of the spurs struggles
Off course spurs needs shooters but they need D more than other things so Bertans will not solve the problem

Yeah Bert did not D up but Carrol barely sees the floor and damn sure can’t fill it up like Davis. Carroll creaky broke down game sucks and whoever signed him should be evaluated for reassignment.

Actually they let Bertans go to free up space for Morris.
If anything, they indirectly "traded" Bertans for Lyles.

White, DDR, DeMarre, Davis and LMA would be a much more fun starting unit. 9 men rotation with instaballer, Mills, Gay and Jacob off the bench looks much better than what we have today with corpses of Forbes and Belli, swap White and Murray if you get killed too much on the glass, anyway that team would've been much closer to .500 than this pile of dogshit

:lmao At giving away one of the most impactful role players in the league (a disturbing, recurring trend). Unsurprisingly, a different organization immediately realized the value of him, expanded his role and he's thriving.
Spare me the Morris fiasco nonsense. They could have incentivized some team (whether with a 2nd, multiple ones, Milutinov, etc.) with cap space to take Belinelli and if need be Metu instead.
This organization is so stuck in the dark ages that they apparently can't even follow mainstream catch all metrics and instead hand away the players who excel in them, while retaining or bringing in players who don't. Then they wonder why this team is garbage.
They've literally become an infamous laughing stock and what's more, helped catapult the Raptors from laughing stock to poor man's beautiful game status. Embarrassing and pathetic.

shooting a higher 3pt% on the wizards than he ever did with the spurs, and on more volume
so we can also can the whole "spurs system creates higher percentage looks" talk. may have been true during MVParker years, but thats about it

I thought the Spurs offered 10M after they traded Bertans and restructured Carroll's contract. Had they not signed Carroll, they would have had closer to that 15M to sign Morris. Just seems like a waste when their first choice in free agency not even getting rotational minutes. But yeah, Morris did screw things up. Now that I think about it, Carroll was probably brought in to replace Bertans in the rotation with certain matchups like the Denver series.

Brian Wright became GM last July 23rd. Now go look up when the Carroll signing, the Bertans deal, and the Morris fiasco happened. Who was the GM then?
