That's the sound of the bench becoming one with Belinelli's ass.
His defense was just as impressive as his offense, imo. And to think that just a few months ago in Summer League I was questioning whether he could ever be even an average defender. He's the whole fucking package. He's going to take down Nephew for us one day. I can feel it. :cry

Physically he can play straight up defense, but his off ball d is still abysmal. Bellineli's off ball defense certainly isn't any better, though, so I still think walker should take most of his minutes.

Can we get rid of Pop and his pet Wombat and finally embrace this youth movement with Walker, White and Murray...etc... Jesus...I can't stand watching Scrubby Mills play over White anymore. I don't care if Derrick is Trump's 2020 campaign manager and is missing a foot...dude needs to be out there making mistakes and gaining confidence. Not being benched in game 7s for a 2-8 Scrubby Mills.

He was ignored be DeMar, tbh... There was one time he was open on the wing on the break and DDR went to the whole other side of the court... Walker plays better with Murray in the game because Murray is much more willing to spread the ball around (and can run with him)... DDR needs the ball in his hands to be effective, and although he is athletic, he doesn't run the break well enough to run with Murray

Game and shooting form reminds me of Stack 5. Without all the drama and of course way more athletic.

But he spaces the floor. It's same excuse Pop used for continuing to give Bonner minutes. Pop gets attached to some three-point shooter with can't guard a chair and plays them more minutes than they deserve when he has a better defender buried on his bench.

That was what impressed me the most actually. He got 28 points pretty much off the ball. That is Spurs basketball. Breaking the offense may lead to one man heroics (we already have 3 veterans who do that too much) but playing team ball and seeing Lonnie carry shows team character and fortitude. This was a win for the whole team, not just Lonnie.

You're completely ignoring the fact that Lonnie is stronger, faster, and just completely on another playing field than White on the eye test of future potential. Lonnie is a specimen. I am a big fan of White as well. Plus we just loss by 30 to the Pistons, so... this was fun!

hat can only improve if he plays actual games, so he knows where to position himself and gets used to team defense

It was fun, the best moment of the season.
But it was only one game. And Harden seems to be a good matchup for Lonnie
This is Lonnie's team. DeRozan, Aldridge, and (especially) Pop just don't know it yet.

Pop is the only coach in the league that would start Forbes over White and Walker. I do think he's one of the greatest coaches ever but it's time for some fresh blood. Sometimes Pop thinks he's smarter than anyone else instead of doing what is plainly obvious.

Bryn talked up all that spacing LA connecting on threes allows for him and teammates.. how's that going for ya Bryn? ... haha
Let's ignore the fact he the weakest link on D. Like i said last game, theres really only 2 players on the spurs with ability to take advantage of rhat spacing in the key. BRYN ain't one of them but thanks for pointing it out . If he gets benched, he will know why.

Playing defense is not just rebounds, he still has a lot of room for improvement there.
Playing defense is not just rebounds, he still has a lot of room for improvement there.
Are you saying he's been bad or simply that he can be really good and hasn't been that yet? If it's the former I disagree. His man to man defense has been solid. He gets beat from time to time but overall he has all the makings of a lockdown defender. He's insanely quick, which allows him to stay with most guys and even when he's beat...that quickness allows him to recover and get back into a lot of plays that most defenders wouldn't be able to get back into. Uses his vertical to make really good shot contests. He guarded Harden better than I've ever seen White or Murray guard him. Really wish Pop would've stopped being a faggot sooner and given Lonnie a chance at PG13/Nephew.
Harder to gauge team defense without going back and rewatching closely, but to me he hasn't stood out in a bad way. I mean, I'm sure he's missing some rotations which is to be expected with him being so inexperienced but that area should only improve over time with more playing time.

LW4 at this point should have his agent talking to other teams telling them that his client has tons of potential but is not allowed to display it and really be out there selling that to other teams. Then LW4 should not really play up to his potential on purpose to justify Pop not wanting to play him and maybe can included in a trade to get out of San Antonio (Hopefully to Eastern Conference so that I can root for him) or sacrifice and not play up to his potential until his contract is up then leave in free agency on his on. On a side note, Keldon Johnson was just as good as PJ Washington and T. Herro at Kentucky, yet he has no NBA experience and PJ and Herro is gaining valuable professional experience and doing really well. Rookies probably pray not to get drafted by the spurs in fear of sitting in the G-league for at least 2 years before being called up to average around 12 minutes a game in your 3rd year. I was a huge Tony P fan until the last maybe 3 to 4 years of his career and I'm starting the feel the same way about Pop. Rudy, LMA and Beli needs to be 1st priority to get rid of. Forbes and Lyles can stay as long as they both are coming of the bench.

That Houston game was meant to be a stepping stone. When you look at and compare to other games since. What's pop done different? Even though we seen glimpses from Lonnie pop has chosen to not close with him. This coach doesn't see the potential or doesn't want to find out what Lonnie is fully capable of.
