That only conclusion I can come with on why he still playing. On why Pop started him last game in the second half. He wants to increase marcos trade value.

Doubt that's the reason. Pop in his old age has lost it.

Belinelli is good when used as a spark plug but he cant handle regular minutes. He is good when used as a surprise attack on opponent def. The teams main problem is Forbes inability to defend.

Can't defend. Can't shoot. Constantly exploited by opposing teams. So what's he in there for?

Because Greg likes him. Pop's tendency toward favoritism is a big problem.

He is still a great clutch shooter but too old and inconsistent to be relied upon anymore.Hopefully spurs can dump his ass somewhere but wont get anything of value in return for the ol vet

Some plausible reasons Marco is playing aside from Popovich's undying loyalty.
1) Maintains his trade value
2) Relieves pressure to play Walker extended minutes depressing his confidence if he's not fully ready
3) Marco may in fact recover his shooting touch, enough to propel the team to the 8th seed

Regardless I don't see Marco being in San Antonio a year from now. Along with DeRozan and Forbes, we just have to deal with 60 more games from these guys. With luck all three will be playing elsewhere in 2020-2021.

First time I ever turned off a spurs game. Can’t keep watching Marco and Forbes get killed on d out there while Lonnie wastes away on bench.

Bro, he subbed Lonnie in for like a minute in the 3rd. He committed a turnover and missed a shot so Pop quickly benched him. It was unbelievable.

It’s ridiculous. Just checked score.

Lolz 110 in third quarter. Marco and Forbes getting torched.

Marco isn't even the worst of our problems. So many leaks in the dike the little Dutch boy doesn't have enough fingers and toes together to keep out the flood.

Trolling us, right? Frankly I can't see those three guys playing anyplace BUT San Antonio - for Pop. Well, Forbes and Belinelli, anyway.

Petrini is saying that Pop said he doesn't know what real +/- is and usually has an analytics guy come to him with a summary written on one piece of paper. Why doesn't that surprise me at all :lmao

I would contend that he is. Benching him and giving Lonnie all of his minutes would be a great start to fixing our problems.

Not nearly as good a start as replacing Forbes with Lonnie. Forbes is by far a bigger problem.

the problem is he won't. What if he decides to stay another 2 years? Bryn Forbes and Belinelli supermax contracts?

Why would Marco have any trade value as anything other than salary filler to get a bigger deal done?

Nobody is trading for an expiring 33 year old scrub on a lottery team. If anybody actually wants him, all they have to do is wait until the Spurs give him a buyout so he can try to latch onto a playoff team.

I don’t care if Beli gets more minutes why cause we need to get a top ten draft pick so keep playing Beli and Forbes. This summer RC and owners need to clean house number one thing is try to get some draft picks and trade or release Beli, Forbes, Gay, LMA, and DEROZZ.

Yeah let's get a top 10 draft pick in the weakest draft ever so he plays in the G-League til 2030 when he's "ready"

Yep. And it's multiplied with DeMar, or Bryn, and/or Patty on the floor.

Pop is simply running out pathetic lineups that continually force LMA and Poeltl to defend at the rim. It's no surprise the blocks are up for both of them.

Something has got to change.

IMO, you trade 2 of the 4. Preferably Demar and Forbes.

Pop has always had a hard on for unathletic white players whose only skill is shooting three's which makes it even more surprising that they traded Davis Bertans. Most likely because they remind him of himself. Even if the Spurs got rid of Marco, Pop would probably overpay an sign someone like Joe Ingles.
