Just had to stop by and wish you guys luck, not that you will need it. The balance in the NBA has clearly swung to the East but the Spurs are clearly the top team in the league. As long as Tim doesn't get hurt, you guys can size the next rings now.
I just hope my Lakers can get into the playoffs and in the non-SA bracket so they can make a little noise of their own.

This is not a good thing to admit.
But my hatred for the Nuggets, had me rooting for the Lakers last night.
Even though Odom looked like shit, Cook, Parker, Profit, and some others looked not bad.

Solid D - Yeah he did. Real comfortable and the Denver guards were held more in check than they did against SA. How he does against Nash tonight will be the real test. LA should be OK. Chris Mihm is the weakest link. Even the teenager looked better on the floor. Brown will have his ups and downs. No depth though in the frontcourt. So many guys just suck (Cook, Slava, Vujacic).
I'm really impressed with SA's roster. Talk about a perfect team - skill sets, attitudes, depth - all revolving around the sun (Tim). Anyway a team wants to play, SA can match up - plus, there will be few problems about roles (except maybe Udrih - he has to want some PT).
If the Spurs can avoid their typical mid-season slide, they could get 70 this year. The West is weaker across the board. Honestly, only LA really improved with something you can count on (great coaching from Phil).

I said it before the season began and I'll say it again in light of Kobe's game winning shot after Game 1 last night.........he's going to have a sick season.

Disagree on Odom. He did well. Even with his bad shooting, he stayed aggressive (something he didn't do last year). Any times he takes 12+ shots, it's a good thing. He knows how to help in other ways.

better than good. Other than his first name, I didn't see much grounds for the ridicule of Parker that I've seen here. Looked very serviceable to me.
Scored 20 pts, 67% FG%, including the ORB and ensuing clutch jumper with :37 left to send the game into OT. zero T0 in 40 minutes. vs Kobe's 6 TO

No doubt. Getting the ball out of his hands is the best thing for the Lakers. He's like a recovering addict. If you give him too much to drink, he'll be off the ledge.
Now, other guys like Odom, Parker, Kwame, etc... have plenty chances to create for themselves, not just play off him. That will only make him better as the D can't focus on him.

You think Cook sucks??
He has a great outside touch, and seemed to rebound and defend alright.
Damn.....
Some of Odom's shots were just beyond stupid, especially that 50 ft 3 he took at one point.

reason?
Because most Laker Fans are bandwagonning, loud mouth jerks that know nothing about basketball. Where were all the Laker Fans last year? It's a new season and Phyllis is back so they are all piling back on. Yeah, they will ride until that first losing streak.
Right now, they have a tough decision to make. Do I pack away the car flags or keep them handy?
Yeah, it might sound like I'm kicking them while they're down. But I don't care. I hope they never sniff another title. It's the Clipper's turn anyway.
I will be extremely disappointed if the Spurs drop one game to the purple and gold pansies.

Cook is just too soft defensively for my tastes. Loves the perimeter play but not as gritty as say Horry. Can't block shots, his rebounding has been suspect. He'd be fine if he was a SF, but not on a team needing size.

Well, they will be good soon. Not championship good, but they have the best shot of winning the division right now since Phoenix no longer has size (no way Amare is back this year), Sac is in disarray, the Clipps don't play defense, and you just know Baron will get hurt.
When you measure up LA and the Pacifice, they have 2 things that no one else can overcome - the ace on the floor and the ace on the bench.

Baron is already hurt, sprained hamstring i heard ......
but dont underestimate the power of JJ2 (James Jones) and Bell.......i think the Suns can still make a run at the divison title......
the clippers are also another team not to discount, ET played one heck of a game last night and will be looking to prove himself night and night out.....

Xtra 570 is reliving Kobe's game winner every fifteen minutes here. The callers have this sound in their voice like they're back. I wouldn't let it get to you. The Laker love is Stern, ESPN, ABC, Bill walton, Stephen A Smith, (fuck the list goes on)'s fault.
I hate the Laker hype as much as anyone. As much as I like this sport it in reality one huge money-making billboard.

Indeed. I hope he eats his Wheaties.
LA can actually pressure the ball this year. You don't know how great that is too see after seeing Derek Fisher, and old-GP, and Chucky Atkins being the defender at the 1. Parker looks like he belongs, not like that fool from last year Tierre Brown either.
LA doesn't have the team defense that SA has but this was a good sign:
Against SA - Miller shot 4-6 with 1 TO and Boykins shot 6-13
with no TOs.
Against LA - Miller shot 3-11 with 4 TOs and Boykins shot
4-12 with 2 TOs.
If Parker can keep Nash under 46 percent from the floor and under 20 points, it would be huge. Teams last year used to get in LA's guts off penetration. Miller and Boykins are two of the best at that but Parker kept them out of the lane for the most part. Very promising for LA if he can do it against the best PG in the game right now.

You know, it ain't the Lakers I hate. It's the bandwagon fans that piss me off, them and their SUPERIORITY COMPLEX.
But 2Cleva is cool peeps. Just remember bro, you can't base your season on a 1 game sample. Parker played well last night, Brown did not, neither did Lamar. How does 1 say that what Parker did is indicative of what he'll do all season, but in the same breath say that what Brown & Odom did won't be? The analysis over a small sample that Laker bandwagon always seem to grasp, has been a source of constant irritation for me. It's the same crap we hear over & over at 570.
So your team is 1-0. Props, win the Pacific and make the playoffs is a fine goal for your new team. For the Spurs and their hardened core, the pursuit of excellence continues all the way to the Finals.

Oh I know about not basing it on one thing. I look for signs. It wasn't Parker's scoring that I liked - it was his ability to stay in front of his man on defense and act like he belonged - played poised. Stuff like that is steady when your shot is not.
That's why I'm cool with Odom. He needs to stay aggressive. He was close to triple-double numbers but he too often shies away from the spotlight.
I was rooting for LA to get Kwame since the moment they got Odom and Butler so I was disappointed Kwame didn't show more. He did give signs though. Him getting the board after his miss in OT kept him out of my doghouse.

Season fatigue shouldn't have set it. Those two guys are in great condition. It was their home opener. No, I don't believe that was the case.

Another thing I noticed about many Laker Fans. They wait until after they are leading in the 4th quarter or win to talk smack. Many of us SoCal Spurs Fans have represented in some hostile territory and in the immortal words of Tupac, "we ain't hard 2 find."
Yet the Laker Fans wait until the end of the game to talk smack when they think they are going to win. That is my biggest pet peeve. Don't be stepping up to us when you haven't talked junk the entire game. That's weak.
And let me tell you about when they lose. They don't utter a word (unless it's Cinco De Mayo), and walk out with their sad face like a kid that just had his Halloween candy stolen by the neighborhood candy pimp.
We will see how many true Laker Fans see this thing through.
