There is your trillion dollar word, as markets price in the effects of a global slowdown from the three largest economies.

---------------------------

Coronavirus pandemic is the new buzzword on the Street. That’s a lot different than the word used by most on Wall Street throughout the breakout of the deadly disease up until this point: epidemic.

We aren’t at coronavirus pandemic levels just yet, which is good news for humanity. But investors have finally taken off the rose-colored glasses amid scores of new information from health officials and major companies, looked in the mirror and realized coronavirus is a more serious situation than first thought. And that needs to be priced into equities across the globe, and quickly.

hard to tell with Chinese figures.

Odds are great they are hiding cases, or don't know about quite a few, and same thing with deaths.

7,000,000,000 peolple, where 60% contract it, and just 01% die is still 42,000,000 dead.

3% would easily break 100M dead, and mass panic.

I have heard the 60% figure a few times, wondering what the source is on that projection. So this is much easier to spread than H1N1 that only got 20% of the world population?

Trump doesn't care how much the word cost, but he is sure he can extort a country desperate for help for a bribe to benefit his business interests.

It's definitely not a pandemic, but rather a central Chinese epidemic with a few spotty cases sprinkled around the globe. It's nothing like 2003 SARS or 2009 H1N1 Swine Flu, and it doesn't have the scary mortality rate of a 2014 Ebola, or even of the 2005-07 H5N1 bird flu.

The mortality rate is ~2%, majority of which are small kids, geriatrics, and/or already compromised (e.g. cancer patients). If you or I got it tomorrow it'd probably be a bad sore throat, 3 days of fever, stuffy nose and 2 weeks of bronchitis gunk and then a gradual but steady recovery.
