View Full Version : What size contract will Bryn Forbes get this summer?

Possibly Pop's most beloved player EVER. Has any player gone from accidental rotation player to untouchable starter and top-3 in minutes? I think Pop even talked up how Bryn was going to make a lot of money this summer and that Pop hoped the Spurs kept him unless my memory is faulty.

4 years, 40 million imo

:pop: We got him at a bargain. We are glad he chose to remain in our program. He was a very coveted FA. We love him and look forward to him being an integral part of our future.

Even the worst of these deals is amazing, so he'll be set for life.

He’s getting a deal for sure. The question is how much cap space do we have to spend? I can totally see a 3 year $21 million deal being done but hopefully it’s just 2 year 16 million. Still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overpaid but atleast it’s only 2 years and by then Pop will be gone

The real question is how much is he worth vs how much the Spurs might over pay him.

In my eyes he’s worth at MOST 5 million a year.

what's sad is there are plenty of guys in the G-league that can give you what Forbes does for the minimum that arent midgets :lol this dude doesnt deserve any NBA salary, he is not an NBA level player

I knew when Duncs retired then Kwa got Zaza'd the Spurs would have a downturn but this is surreal.

Pop is going to wait and see what's the best deal Brent gets on the open market and then he is going to triple it.

If they pay either it'll be an overpay.

If that happens it better mean Mills is traded (meaning signing Forbes at all). But I hope they don’t. But I also agree with your numbers basically if it does happen.

Probably. I wouldn't rule out his not being re-signed though.

Not for the two reasons they've let other Spurs material types walk in the past though (fit and/or financial purposes, since neither will be as much of a concern entering a re-build), but because they might come away with a replacement in a DeRozan trade (Fournier, Ross, etc.).

He will be our new 50 Mills , and you guys know it. It will be pretty sad how much money the Spurs will pay for him especially when his skill set is a dime a dozen in the NBA and he provides nothing special.

I voted 50 Mills though it wouldn't shock me to see the Spurs give him a Murray contract considering he is a starter who plays more minutes than Mills.

OP is on point, cause it will definitely be a 4-year deal. Probably around 50-60 million. Funny to think that they will spend 35 million in cap space on Bryn Forbes, Rudy Gay and Demarre Carroll next season

Don't forget to add in $5 mil for gasol.

Patty Mills on how to get some crusty old senile to give you 50 million:

Mills’ advice to Forbes as he contemplates his future? Just don’t. “It’s hard to take that advice, but that’s always been my mindset — to not worry about it and go out there and play hard,” Mills said. “The other stuff will take care of itself.”

Bryn appealing to pop thru media . Working on that contract extension.

In case ypu missed it. Pop has assured Bryn he will get a contract here if he aint too expensive.. so that was a quote around when the season started. POP the coach can talk like this because he also the president. For me, ya pops a legend and deserves alot of leeway . Just seems theres a conflict of interests . The decision shouldnt be left to Pop ultimately . Going on current form, keeping in mind the demarri debacle and we all see rhe favouritism going on.

Get it out of Pop's hands .

Easier said than done. Pop the coach can still coach imo. But Pop the president has made some really bad acquisitions of the years.

Sorry, the options offered in this poll are unrealistic. His skill level are nothing special, he can be replaced with a a dozen guys in the Gleague. He is not a starter on this team as constructed, and you dont run back the players on a bad team, at best he is worth 2 year deal /10 million

so starting him at SG is not unrealistic? Flopovich does a lot of unrealistic shit, like sigining a guy for 16 million/3 years and then letting him play for the Rockets after 5 months

3 years, 25 million.

Forbes is a smart kid and knows the Spurs created his career. He'll probably give a home-town discount (at least this time).

He can PRACTICE all he wants, its not gonna polish this "starting shooting guard" into an NBA player....

Kudos for Jeff Lowkey throwing shade on POOP for wanting to give this shit stain a contract.

Forbes is an NBA player, just not a starter. One dimensional, 3 point gunners, like Forbes have been around the NBA a long time.
