Was actually past his prime when arrived to Real Madrid. His prime was at Barcelona and Inter, before injuries. Unbelievable skill, speed and definition. The best player of his generation, and there were quite a few great players during his playing time (Romario, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Figo, Rivaldo, just to name a few).

Messi's peak >>>>> Ronaldo's peak

Ronaldo had luxury of being an absolute ghost in some finals (2014, 2016, didn't play Euro final) and his teammates could finish the job without needing him to play well in a final.

Amused trying to rewrite history and failing miserably :lol

Prime Ronaldo 3peat'ed in the CL and topped it off with the Euro. In that time span, he was the CL's top scorer for 5 straight seasons.

Lionel Harden spent his athletic prime winning only lol ligas and routinely choking leads in the CL and finals against Chile :lol

If we're talking peaks, individual numbers + hardware during a player's athletic prime, it's Ronaldo>Midget and it's not even close.

Ronaldo's 2016/17 CL run, was the the most dominant performance i've ever seen by a single player in a top tier tournament.

Let's face it, after a hot start, the 2nd half of midget's career has been extremely underwhelming. I'm sure in your head, you envisioned a lot more for midget (see midget will ring in Russia thread :lol) but your boy always failed to deliver on your expectations and made you settle for lol liga titles instead :lol

The subjective opinions of sports pundits is all you've got left at this point, because Ronaldo surpassed midget in meaningful hardware.

Sounds like wishful thinking to me. As usual, your takes come from a place of emotion, not logic. Your blind allegiance to your fellow countryman makes you come up with these bad takes. Even when numbers and logic point in the opposite direction.

What amazes, it’s the finesse while running at unbelievable speed. Besides a great finisher too. One leg over the ball, then the other, then starts running and is gone. All in a fluid sequence.

Arguing who’s better between Messi or Ronaldo, honestly isn’t a clear cut. I tend to think Ronaldo is better, because how do you guard a player that runs so fast and jumps so high. Besides he’s very strong and not easy to tackle. Ronaldo is the better finisher. And strong mentally. Messi while arguably more skilled, tends to play worse, sometimes completely disappears in difficult games, the only exception being the clásicos, that not always define anything.

Messi is easily much harder to defend than Ronaldo. Ronaldo always had the luxury of his teammate stepping up in the biggest games (like a majority of the finals ronaldo completely dissapeared in). Ronaldo is the luckiest player in football history. He's amazing no doubt, but Messi is in-arguably the better player. His playmaking annihilates Ronaldo and he's just as good of a goal scorer.

0-4 record in finals for Argentina with 0 goals in said finals. Looks to me like Lionel Harden is pretty easy to defend imho :lol

If Ronaldo is being carried by his teammates in finals, midget's carried throughout entire knockout stages. See 14 WC and 19 CA where midget was non-existent in the KO stage.

If midget missed a crucial game Argentina get pummeled. Ronaldo’s last ten games he’s missed for Portugal have yet to lose a SINGLE time.

Talking out of your ass, as usual :lol

Argentina is simply more stacked than Portugal and midget's teammates have a far better goal output than Ronaldo's teammates. Which allows midget to disappear throughout entire knockout stages and still comfortably make finals and semis on a regular basis.

Ronaldo had 3 goals and 3 assists when Portugal made the Euro 16 final. Argentina made the Copa America 19 semi-final with midget scoring 1 penalty in the group stage and having 0 assists :lol

Being more stacked doesn’t make you the better team, don’t get how you’re so dense.

If Argentina are so stacked why are they beyond awful when Messi doesn’t play for them? Portugal sans ronaldo is still a much much better team than Argentina without Messi.

Imagine being a cheerleader on the sidelines and your team

Portugal is a much better team than Argentina.

Portugal’s euro run was one of the jammiest in euro history. Not one win in 90 minutes. Ironic Ronaldo was salty about Iceland having a “small team mentality” when Portugal were absolutely atrocious to watch especially in the knockout stages.

Portugal scored 9 goals in the Euro 2016, Ronaldo had 3 goals and 3 assists in the tournament, meaning he either scored or directly impacted 2/3 of Portugal's goals.

Only Lionel Harden has the luxury of having 0 production in the KO stage and still comfortably make finals because he's surrounded by scorers. Without Ronaldo's 3 goals and 3 assists Portugal doesn't make the final, they wouldn't have made it out of the group stage to begin with :lol

I'll come clean and admit that it's been a joy watching Messi dominate oppositions. He hasn't scored a goal in the knock out stages, but he set up Di Maria and had a hand in Higuain's goal against Belgium. Ultimately, his biggest contribution comes from the fact that he has to be marked and that really limits opponents offensively..His ability to keep CMF's and DMF's play defense 90% is also part of the reason why oppositions are having trouble building up offense. He breaks the connection between offense and defense..Messi is the main gun in offense and part of the reason why they're successful in defending as well.

You might notice him walking in the field in defense and waiting in front, but a close look and you will know that it effectively keeps CMF's and DMF's at bay..which limits other teams to crosses and poor attempts in the middle. I only wish Ronaldo was used in the same sense.

I would also like to comment on all the Ozil hate on this board...Though he has been subpar and hasn't scored much goals or assisted that much, Ronaldo loves him for a reason. I've never seen as good of a player as Ozil in terms of drawing opponets to him to give others the space..There is a reason why he was initially placed in front..

It's unfortunate that get so many idiots that can't appreciate how important that is..Ozil has been phenomenal. Germany has a lot of great subs, but he's still there for a reason. Lowe sees this tbh. Selfless player..Everything is about giving people the opportunity to succeed.
