Timberwolves acquire F Dupree from Pistons
October 31, 2005
MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - Looking for more size in their frontcourt, the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday acquired forward Ronald Dupree from the Detroit Pistons for a future second-round draft pick.
The 6-7 Dupree played in 47 games for the Pistons last season, averaging 3.2 points and 2.0 points. He averaged 6.2 points as a rookie with Chicago in 2003.
"Ronald is a solid defensive player and we wanted to get another big defender at the small forward position," Timberwolves president of basketball operations Kevin McHale said.

Didn't I read that the Spurs were interested in him as the next "Bruce the Noose", and were waiting to see if the Pistons waived him? Seems a future 2nd round pick would have been worth it. Or is this an issue of Holt and the luxury tax?
