So you're telling us there's a chance....

https://sports.yahoo.com/rumor-nba-considering-resuming-2020-223002419.html

So 5-7 final regular season games and multiple Best-Of-3 series.

Some of you are gonna be really happy to see Bryn Forbes again.

Remember that infamous Miami Heat game when Pop got fined for not playing the big 3? What makes you think he'll send his son Bryn to play in those meaningless final 5-7 games? Pop wouldn't want to risk the face of the franchise coming down with something no matter what assurances there are.

I was on Twitter yesterday, and someone posted a phone video taken through the window of a car. It was around the back of a hospital in Brooklyn NY, and they had a forklift loading bodies on a pallet into the back of a semi. Everyone was in full haz gear.

Cancel the fucking season, already. Anything else is completely tone deaf.

Just declare the Lakers the Champs. That's the NBA's goal of every season anyway.

Interesting dynamic. NBA to reliant on social media. They are known as the social justice league and the league that always has the best interest of the players (it isn’t true but that’s their marketing shtick) at heart. But they have proved that they bow down to money, i.e. the whole China fiasco. The backlash they would get for resuming the season would be insane. Would be a boss move though.

LeBron not being onboard apparently doesn’t help though. I can’t see them resuming play unless the NBAPA gets their lawyers involved.

I think a lot of players would rightfully refuse to play. You got a ton of youngish millionaires who know it would be foolish to risk their careers and lives over a few games and an asterisk title. I don't see what possible way this happens. The lawsuits alone would take months to play out.

I'll take it. Better than nothing (unless the Lakers win).

Yea, we know they're notorious for leaving money and glory on the table.

Cool if:

*. 5 regular season games for everyone to help their seeding.
*. 9 thru 12 single elimination game. Lower seed being the road team.
*. Winner plays single elimination game at the 8th seed.
*. Actual playoffs begin as usual.

Considering it'd be fair for everyone, not at all. Asterisk titles are like the past 3, which were all contrived and therefor tainted.

We'll see. The good thing for us is that the end of the summer gave us time to prepare and learn from the experiences of others. If this shit would have started in our winter, we would probably be more fucked up than Italy.

Assuming the virus goes - think of how many injuries could result in resuming the season and almost going straight into a playoff series. Best out of 3 would make a playoff game even more intense. It's just dangerous. Then add the virus and the idea should be scrapped immediately. Imagine it's the Bucks vs Celtics and somehow one Bucks' player gets the virus, the whole team goes into lockdown. Do you wait 2 weeks plus a training season or two? Do you forfeit?

Heck, they'll be lucky to play in the fall. This is the truth. I just had a trip abroad canceled for late September. We'll be down for awhile.

Yeah until they have a vaccine or have treatment to dramatically reduce sickness you can kiss all major sports/entertainment venues good bye

Government officials in Toronto have banned all public events through June 30.
This doesn't necessarily mean that the league won't be able to resume in June, but it does mean it's very likely when/if things start back up, it'll be without any fans in attendance. The ban is on city-led events which would not include the NBA or NHL, but this decision could up the likelihood of the league moving to a centralized location to ease travel and finish out the season. The governor of Massachusetts has also extended the stay at home advisory to May 4, so Mark Cuban's comments from earlier this month speculating of a potential May return seem extremely unrealistic at this point.

like i've said before, i want play to resume... but i really don't see that happening... they're gonna invest so much money in setting things up... and then what happens if one player / staff member tests positive? then they have to suspend everything so they can test everyone before resuming again?

Which is precisely why I don't see this season being finished one way or the other.

Hell, it's probably more likely that next season doesn't even start on time.

This thing isn't going to just blow over. It's not going away until a vaccine is developed, and the timeline on that is probably 6-18 months between research, development and testing. They aren't just going to make a drug and start pumping it into people...it's going to have to undergo serious scrutiny and trials if they are going to push it out to the entire world population.

If the Olympics aren't happening, then the NBA sure isn't starting up anytime before that.
