Kinda curious to see where this goes...

What makes anyone think our economy wouldn't shut down if we just tried business as usual? During the Spanish flu cities shut down on their own without any media coverage of the flu once people started seeing their neighbors dying. Without the shelter in place orders nationwide we'd still get the same economic disruption in the short term but with more in the long term with many more dead.

We'd kill a bunch of doctors and nurses and completely overwhelm our hospital system nationwide just so businesses could stay open another week and a half?

1000s of doctors, nurses, health care staff will get sick and/or die due to insufficient PPE.

Notice that vids from China now show full body HAZMAT, while American health care have to bring stuff from home, bandannas, etc if permitted by business managers, who require re-using PPE that would normally cause the facility to lose its license.

The premise is that both of these things are going to happen. No ways around it.

Basically, is a butt fucking worse than a skull fucking?

50M+ in USA are ALREADY in or near poverty, scrambling from paycheck to paycheck, scrambling for more hours/week in one or more shitty jobs and gigs

Kinda curious to see where this goes...

your 1st option is incorrect

if we dont shut down millions would die. say 2% of half the population thats 3 million ppl

people dropping dead left and right and healthcare system collapsing would result i much more panic and death

if that happens you dont think economy would collapse anyway

your 1st option should be:
- 2-3 million dead, healthcare collapse and much more death because of this, at minimum an economic recession

hater
04-01-2020, 12:55 PM
your 2nd option should be
- 100-200k dead and economic depression

hater
04-01-2020, 12:58 PM
remember the wuhan videos

imagine going to grocery and someone convulsing and collapsing, or at work, or on the street. and this happening over and over. bodies lined up on the streets

you dont think that would cause mass panic and ppl would anyway stay home

them ppl would rebel against government for allowing this to happen

Kinda curious to see where this goes...

Poverty carries with it a host of things that will kill over a longer period of time more than 200k in a population that is that large.

Can provide a bit of data on effects of poverty in general on mortality.

Why are we such slaves to the economy? In the end, who are we still working for? Whose pay is so important in the next 2 months that people have to lose jobs and businesses because they can't pay them? Defer every rent payment, mortgage payment, loan payment. Shut the whole fucking thing down.

Nobody in their right mind is gonna go out just because Trump or the Federal government says it's safe to go out when there are 100's or 1000's dying at the local hospital.

Stubbornness, as trite as that sounds, it's dead-on. Gov't doesn't want to stipulate to Corona, and Americans see an opportunity to make $ hand over fist.

Already ahead of the curve. We decided to just close the brick and mortar. We got our guys situated at home and will just work remotely in full moving forward. A little less overhead, larger talent pool. Win-win for us.

Also, just laser focused in on markets with little to no restrictions and shifting the focus of one-on-one meetings to phone/webinar meetings onto of the new products we launched.

Still, it absolutely killed our trajectory and projections for the year and eliminated half our staff, but we feel we'll come out of this shit a better company...so long it doesn't get much worse.

chunko- i started working as a child-practically

i have zero fear of hard times and have always found a way

watching people cry for their economy and willing to kill off grandma is the weakest shit ive ever seen

if you end up in a booming economy or in a world with a collapsed economy and famine- you will always be what you have always been

if you have always worked and thrived- you will find a way

if you were a piece of shit who was born on third base and exploited those weaker/less fortunate

you might find yourself crying and regretting what a piece of shit you were and will probably be murdered or let your loved ones starve (kinda like you)

The Bill Gates model puts it at 90k deaths. 16k from New York alone.

That's the one NY is using to guide their actions.

We were merely the first state to have the mass deaths. More are coming. probably more so than here.

Florida is fucked, imo.

Do you really think the banks and note-holders are going to sit idly by while all this happens? Not going to pretend I'm up to date on moratoriums everywhere else, but I'll give Cali it's due, they're trying to protect their renters here. Hope that most states are rolling out protections for everything, especially auto loans.

It's not a fear of the economy collapsing, it's the fear of the banks. Not a conspiritard point of view to say the banks really do run this country. We went down this road ten-twelve years ago. Deep fear of "banks plead to government to call in loans to prevent government bailout" (or something similar) coming and that's what will precipitate the push to 3rd world status.
