That Giants-49ers matchup in the 2011 NFC Championship Game was exactly what a football should be...can’t remember a game with so much sustained intensity and ferocity since then. Every yard gained in that game took blood and sweat...and tears or Kyle Williams

Also the 1990 Giants-49ers championship was epic in its own way as well. Fucking Roger Craig, man...just hold onto the ball and the Bills get their SB...no way the 49ers we’re stopping the K-Gun that year, only Belichick...

Yes definitely one of the hardest hitting games of the 2010's. Both teams very evenly matched might have come down to injury
Last playoff game at Candlestick Park, host to the most NFC Title games

Montana was knocked out. Possibly Young's coming out party? Bills would certainly been favored

If the Saints would have survived the Niners game, I think they would have crushed that Giants team at home. The Saints o-line always had their way with the Giants front four.

ESPN 2k5 is easily the best football video game ever made. completely outclassed madden/gameday and retailed at $20

This game changed everything. Largest fork in road during my time.
- AFC losing streak snapped (13 Super Bowls)
- Favre fails the repeat and doesn't win again
- Elway snaps 0-3 losing streak, wins 2nd straight
- 13+ point favorites
- San Diego

Incorrect, that was 2012 Divisional vs. Green Bay. The game your BFF Kaepernick rushed and passed for over 200 yards each and turned the Packers sorry defense into mush.

I remember watching the game itself, senior year of high school. IIRC Kaep threw a pick 6 on the first play of the game and I was pissed because I completely hated Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay by that point. But after that Kaep had the game of a lifetime and honestly one of the GOAT playoff performances ever. I remember Green Bay muffing a punt in the red zone fairly early in the game which changed the tide.

Okay I think I remember. Seahawks were driving late on the Falcons and could have given the 49ers hosting powers. I remember at the time I wanted to host but my sporting betting buddy argued against. Seattle probably defeated us once in regular season.

Yes. Once again, senior year of high school and the frame of time leading up to 6, probably one the most memorable sports mini-eras of my life.
Seahawks came all the way back from 4 scores down in the second half to take the lead on the back of Russell Wilson, only for the vaunted "legion of boom" to allow mediocre-ass Matty Piss to drive down the field well into field goal range with very little time left. On the last play of the game Wilson launched a hail mary deep into the endzone and Julio Jones (lol) got the game clinching interception. Definitely one for the pro-Russell Wilson argument, and he was only a rookie back then.
Seahawks did beat the 49ers late in the year that season on Harbaugh's birthday on SNF in a crushing, rain-soaked blowout. Also the game where Kam Chancellor blasted the melanin out of Vernon Davis.
