View Full Version : CO2 shortage?

It's interesting how interconnected our world is and how one domino triggers the next which triggers the next. With the oil glut and corona happening simultaneously a bunch of ethanol plants have shut down...and CO2 is a significant ethanol byproduct. CO2 is widely used in water treatment plants, food and drink production (including beer) and the shortage is dramatic...like 1/3 normal production.

Seems like there's still demand. Might have to dust off the ol' DPA.

I give him credit for making me take this seriously tho.

Seems like ages ago when we were watching strange videos out of China and thinking it was just a problem "over there".

Fuck. I wish it stayed over there. Now, it's just another pathogen in our world we have to live with.

They knew exactly what they were dealing with. Because it leaked out of their shitty lab.

The video that really freaked me out were those huge trucks fumigating the streets.

Try Italian reds, some will but most don't. Unless it's a sulfate thing, you can find wines without if so.

They have been raising animals using people in close proximity to each other on a massive scale for many years.
This is the most likely root of the problem if this is what you mean by lab...

This is the most likely root of the problem if this is what you mean by lab...DarrinS seems to have latched onto the unproven hypothesis that COVID-19 was developed in a biochemical research lab and was (intentionally or inadvertently) released there.

Many similar viruses are found in wild bats, and it seems likely that is the origin of this one, probably via an intermediate host. Similarly, we know that both SARS and MERS came from bats, so there is no reason to invoke a laboratory accident.

Researchers led by Shan-Lu Liu at the Ohio State University say there is “no credible evidence” of genetic engineering (Emerging Microbes & Infections, doi.org/dpvw (https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/22221751.2020.1733440)). The virus’s genome has been sequenced, and if it had been altered, we would expect to see signs of inserted gene sequences. But we now know the points that differ from bat viruses are scattered in a fairly random way, just as they would be if the new virus had evolved naturally. https://www.newscientist.com/term/coronavirus-come-lab/#ixzz6Kj2DxNuq

This Deutche Welle article, though agreeing that no evidence as yet points to origination on a lab, points out there is nothing that definitively excludes it:

https://www.dw.com/en/did-coronavirus-really-originate-in-a-chinese-laboratory/a-53171292

Seems to be popular with Republicans *for some reason*:
