#1 - they can pass another hundred bills to help the working class - from health care to election security to funding for testing for the corona

but - then Moscow Mitch will refuse to even put the bills on the floor - and blame the Dems.

#2) - What the fuck has your cult daddy accomplished - apart from scandal after scandal - and trillions to the 1% and destroying the environment?

That's exactly the goal of the Repugs' mysterious, obsucre WTF "unitary executive" bullshit,

NO oversight of the Exec branch from Congress,

proving the Repugs' strategy is that (their) politics overrides the Constitution with a Repug President.

The Repugs will forget about unitary executive bullshit with a Dem President.

We saw that extreme hypocrisy with Moscow Mitch saying

no new SCOTUS judge proposed by a Dem President term in his last year,

but sure, of course, in the last year of a Repug President's term Bitch Mitch would approve a Repug justice.

key moments from the oral arguments:

Kavanaugh asked: “The question … boils down to how can we both protect the House’s interest in obtaining information it needs to legislate but also protect the presidency. How can the court balance those interests?”

Gorsuch questioned why the court would give Trump immunity in a criminal investigation when it did not give Clinton immunity in a sexual harassment lawsuit. In the 1997 case, lawyers for the plaintiff wanted Clinton to be questioned, Gorsuch noted, while in the Trump case the information is sought from third parties.

Gorsuch in particular brought that point up multiple times. How does Trump's team reconcile the fact Clinton had to produce the goods to congress but Trump should get a pass and why?

pgardn
05-12-2020, 03:13 PM
I found the arguments to be very interesting.

I like how the judges can actually guide the lawyers they can control to remake a point so it makes more legal and precedence sense.
The trump judges and lawyer kept making that 2023 judges in NY with the ability to file a suit (harass) after it was pretty much shot down.
They kept hammering that 2000 number anyway. Almost choreographed.

I thought both sides, once the judges whittled it down, made pretty good arguments.
Clarence Thomas actually asked questions? I guess he knew he was more transparent than on mere press reports so he decided to talk.

breyer hit that point even more forcefully -comparing nixon releasing tapes- which were administration workings compared to the weaker trump case (private citizens trumps taxes)

but still- the main preoccupation of scotus seemed to be disproportionally protecting the president and how a presidency would be given “undue burden” by political attacks

they went on and on about protecting the presidency

i think - at best- they kick the cases back down to the lower courts for fine tuning

which of course= month or years

I got a different impression. Hopefully one of the two lawyers listened in.
The Nixon tapes, which this was compared to, involved just handing over information (the tapes) as well, it had not gone criminal yet.
