I didn't think AG Bill Barr would even allow this to proceed. :wow

WASHINGTON — Senator Richard M. Burr, Republican of North Carolina, temporarily stepped down as chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, a day after F.B.I. agents seized his cellphone as part of an investigation into whether he sold hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of stocks using nonpublic information about the coronavirus.

The seizure and an accompanying search for his electronic storage accounts, which were confirmed by an investigator briefed on the case, represented a significant escalation of the inquiry by the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Burr decided to step aside “during the pendency of the investigation” on Thursday and informed Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and the majority leader....

I would not be surprised.

No matter the crime, Trash/Barr anti-American autocrats will protect their tribe,

while aggressively investigating and criminalizing any and all opposition, which is considered to be illegitimate, going back to 1992.

cheap whore Durham will obviously deliver what Barr asked for. Barr knows exactly whom he hired.

Durham did that under Obama (no attack on dubya, etc)

If Trash wins in November, American democracy, always mythical, will be dead.

Then add in the Article V Convention of the States (the oligarchy) to suspend the Constitution and write a new Constitution.

Jeez. If the Democrats can pick this up in a special election. Would be nice.

Drain the swamp.

It's amazing what people will risk for just a little bit of money, I guess grifting changes one's perspective on being a public servant.

Please take down Feinstein. She's the absolute fucking worst senator and the safest seat. Which is why they won't, lesser of two evils.

It a world run by reasonable people, Burr would step down from his seat in the senate altogether. I know I am condemning him before they have even brought a charge but the report looks damning.

Analysts ask if Justice Department investigation into Sen. Burr is payback for authenticating the Russia scandal

Months ago, Attorney General Bill Barr announced the Department of Justice was no longer seeking to throw the book at Roger Stone.

Last week, Barr decided to withdraw the case against Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn.

This week, Paul Manafort was allowed out of prison six years early.

Given sweet legal deals have been handed to the allies of President Donald Trump,

reporters and analysts are wondering why the case against a staunch Republican senator is even moving forward with an FBI warrant (https://www.rawstory.com/2020/05/fbi-takes-sen-richard-burrs-cell-phone-after-serving-warrant-in-stock-investigation/).

reporter Mark Follman asked if it was really more “about Bill Barr targeting the one powerful Republican who authenticated the Russia investigation.”

Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) did a similar stock-dump but for some reason, she’s not under investigation.

Given current circumstances of how Barr operates,

some people are wondering if

the investigation into Burr is retaliation for his committee's findings on Russian interference.

His committee's report confirmed that "Russia aimed to help Trump in 2016.

GOP fears Richard Burr’s stock-dumping scandal could take down North Carolina’s other Republican senator

Burr stepped aside as chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee last week

after federal agents seized his cell phone as part of the investigation,

but that cloud over his future could also complicate Sen. Thom Tillis’ re-election this fall,
