Red team shuns the rule of law.

deceit, wanton rule-breaking, a willful disregard for collateral damage—is, in real life, more likely to get one branded a winner

if you can get away with it.

It's the first opportunity to do so since the Twin Towers went down.

Nobody is going to piss this opportunity away.

These states are hiring Covid trackers by the thousands, stockpiling information 24/7.

We need a secession. All the lefties that want their utopian authoritarian world can have their own territory. Those that want freedom and are not afraid of fear mongering from MSM can have their own Confederacy.

Simple solution.

You go to Somalia.

Yep. And we've only ourselves to blame.

Remember RICO statutes? "Oh, it's only for major drug dealers. Regular people have nothing to worry about."

What'd they do? Catch a john & a whore, seize the car then turn it over into their fleet for undercover duties.

It's what they do. Anything less is a mistake in their book.
If it doesn't work, they'll get out the hammer and chisel tomorrow and pound away 'til it works.

Taibbi good now.

It's a great writeup by Taibbi, and if you read past the headline, he mentions clearly that Republicans have abandoned them a long time ago (he's obviously right)

This is far from a new condemnation on Democrats. He points out areas like the Patriot Act, which they always supported and clearly clashes with other civil rights issues.

Something I think most here have denounced as clearly something the party (and the previous admin) has been wrong about (nobody would expect any better from Republicans).

Unfortunately, there's still a big section of Democrats in Washington that are the old warmonger school... Biden is one of those guys too. Then again, I suppose it could be worse. Your party could be co-opted by somebody like Trump, tbh

Being a warmonger doesn't necessarily mean there's going to be war. And frankly, war is here no matter who's in charge, so that's really out of the question.

With that said, having a clown be the face of your party is clearly destructive in the long run. I will always take a semi-competent person, even if I don't agree with their foreign policy.

this will always be a problem in this country.

The rights of individual privacy versus the good of the whole.

You have a credit card with your name on it.
You have basically been put on a list and given people the opportunity to take your money.
but you will live with it just like the rest of us because of convenience. merely because you want to buy stuff. yet you worry about lists of possibly dangerous people...
this will always be a problem in societies that try to interact through information.

Snowden probably did one of the greatest illegal things in the past decade.

realize the problem and try to mitigate it, or go live on an island.

Any point you want to make besides color commentary on my post?

This isn't really complicated. We're in a two party system, and if we're realistic, that's not changing. It's going to be Republicans vs Democrats for the foreseeable future.

You don't have to be a Democrat or Republican to understand how an incompetent president is devastating to it's own party (this applies evenly to both). Any change that you deem positive will have to come from within the parties.

I have no interest in neither Dems or GOP imploding, simply because that's hurtful to democracy in general. Ideally, I wouldn't want 16 years in a row of the same party in power on principle alone. However, I don't know that's worse than a flat out incompetent president.

I think where he's coming from is that "I don't have to settle for this shit sandwich because the GOP is worse"... and I somewhat agree with that.

Taibbi is writing for a target audience that already knows how bad the GOP is. It might come off this way but he’s not your typical lazy journalist trying to falsely equate the two. Any time Taibbi is writing about how bad the Democrats are, the basic premise is everyone knows how corrupt and shitty Republicans are but Democratic voters are failing to recognize how fucked up their own party is too.

People like the OP who misconstrue Taibbis article as some ringing endorsement of Republican politics know they’re being intellectually dishonest and were already voting Republicans anyway.

I’m a big Greenwald fan too, can’t even remember the last time this happened but it’s always great watching him as a guest on Real Time calling Bill Maher out for becoming a center right neoconservative asshole.

Where did I misconstrue the article as some ringing endorsement of Republican politics and when have I ever supported government over reach and surveillance?
