He was a class act and a heck of a player and coach. Bizarre timing given how big of a deal the 1998 NBA Finals were this week with The Last Dance and Game 6: The Movie coming out.

greatest head coach in pro team sports never to win the big thing tbh. Also the Tom Landry for the Utah Jazz franchise and thus Utah/SLC sports in general.

Always loved those jerseys, wish they would have kept them beyond Jordan's rookie year.

Gotta say I have never seen a coach who could get so much out of players. Bryon Russell was a pretty legit starting SF in Utah but the second he left he didn't look like even half the player he was under Sloan. I remember Howard Eisley on the Spurs and he was a nobody but on the Jazz he was a very solid bench player with range. Of course the most obvious case was Deron Williams who was a legit MVP candidate under Sloan and a nobody after leaving the Jazz.

One of the top 5 coaches of all time. He had some funny lines in The Last Dance, so that was like a tribute.

Overrated, choker, and clearly an asshole as a coach. Part of the old guard of coaches envious of Phil Jackson, tbh

At one point I saw a fly leave his mouth during the game.
