Fauci: Hydroxychloroquine not effective against coronavirus
However, Fauci stopped short of calling for an outright ban of the drug.

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci on Wednesday became the first Trump administration official to say definitively that hydroxychloroquine is not an effective treatment for the coronavirus, based on the available data.

"The scientific data is really quite evident now about the lack of efficacy," Fauci — the U.S. government's top infectious disease expert — said on CNN.

But he stopped short of calling for an outright ban of the drug, which President Trump said he was taking last week as a preventative measure after a top White House aide was diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Fauci's comments come days after the Lancet published a 96,000-patient observational study that concluded that hydroxychloroquine had no effect on Covid-19 and may have even caused some harm.

France decided this week to ban the use of hydroxychloroquine, even in clinical trials, and the WHO has paused its clinical trials of the drug.

There is no data yet from randomized, controlled clinical trials of hydroxychloroquine — the gold standard for evaluating potential treatments. But Fauci was unequivocal on Wednesday, saying that "the data are clear right now."

Just read this funny comment on the interwebs today:

France obviously banned it as part of the conspiracy aimed to discredit the President of the United States. It is amazing, the depths to which those Socialists will sink to sully his genius. They do not want to rely on the Corrupt elections, they are actually killing their citizens in support of the great Bat Flu hoax.

I have not read the thread but if this drug is used for Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis, it targets INFLAMMATION (which I hear is one of the problems with Covid) - so I can understand why people are willing to try (early) a long-used drug in the absence of any other treatment.

yes, adaptive immune system overreacting the C19 causes nearly all the damage, in the same way inflammation from lupus damages.

cortico-steroids have been suggested as early treatment in the innate immune excitation phase to reduce inflammatory responses in the adaptive immune phase.

the problem is that y'all dumbfucks didn't research is that Hydroxychloroquine has serious side effects and no evidence of prophylactic value

experts have been wrong about a lot of things before. in all fields. you know who figures it out and changes guidelines and procedures when new evidence/data changes our understanding of subjects? those same people.

How many people contracted SARS in the United States during the 2003 outbreak? How many people died of SARS in the United States?
In the United States, only eight persons were laboratory-confirmed as SARS cases. There were no SARS-related deaths in the United States. All of the eight persons with laboratory-confirmed SARS had traveled to areas where SARS-CoV transmission was occurring.

Here in the US during coronavirus you can't even get tested easily even if symptomatic. It's Damm near impossible to get tested if you suspect you have been in contact with someone

The protocol is always pretty much the same to begin with: isolate and contain. That means quarantine suspected patients, and test.

We had a pandemic playbook that was actually put together with what we learned post-SARS, but unfortunately it apparently got lost during the government transition.

We also were lacking testing during this particular pandemic initially, which meant that the CDC sent orders to only test very sick individuals, which is not how you contain.

Now, to be fair, I believe this virus is much more contagious than SARS.

And yes, now that tests are available, we're more or less following the proper protocol.

So, you think that someone with SARS flew from China/Hong Kong to Miami and just happen to transmit it to me at my supermarket, Costco or church - making me the 9th case of 300+million people and the only one to catch it from NOT travelling to where SARS transmission was occurring - what are the chances of that - near zilch. If a black or hispanic or white person with the same symptoms had walked into that ER, they wouldn't have quarantined that person.

It doesn't matter what you think the odds are. If you're diagnosed with the disease, isolating is simply the right thing to do. If you do turn out to be infected but asymptomatic, and you are spreading the disease around, it's much harder to then try to contain you and ALL the people you infected, plus all the people they infected.
Especially on diseases where we don't know yet if they have exponential contagion growth, etc.

I can't speak about your claim of bias, but there's absolutely no reason or excuse not to isolate you once you were diagnosed. I hope that's clear enough this time.

Lol not what specialists said? What I laughed about came from the CDC, WHO, and Fauci's lips. Lmao!

All of them have been recommending social distancing, and IIRC the WHO never recommended not to use masks. This predates COVID, we had similar (but not as contagious or deadly) pandemics before.

And yes, now that tests are available, we're more or less following the proper protocol.

nope

we never followed protocol to start with. and we are actually following it less and less as time goes by

a regular person cant even get a test done right now. do you even know how much a test costs? does your insurance cover it? can your doctor easily order it? no

so no we never followed protocol thats why 100,000 bodybags have been burned

It's funny random people on a sports forum understand how to contain an epidemic but the CDC didn't figure it out because they couldn't find the playbook. And you wonder why so many people just laugh this shit off.

its pretty fucking easy to understand protocol. all you need is a couple of braincells and know how to read

we never gave a shit
