There is no alternation in hospital census. Down down down.

Second of all its not mental gymnastics. Well it is because the cdc and states are not transparent, allowing for lazy political Karen twittering away with media click bait.

To see death count manipulation, but using context with go here

Scroll down to 6.3.2020 click the cdrss report. Look at the covid deaths reported 6.2.2020 as NEW DEATHS in New jersey. Look at the ages. Look at the case status. 17 deaths added to a day when they happened days weeks and months before.

Other states will not list this clearly, if at all. This is why you have to view historical data and download the csv or excel. You need to actually use math. This is why I showed nj. Example of why backlogging probables makes daily count or spikes ignorant to view

At the risk of defending Cuomo, two things:

1. You can show all of the pictures of big protests you want, but the number of people in New York (or insert other state here) who are in restaurants and bars in a given day is far greater than the number of people in the biggest protest they've had. It's simple math that gets overwhelmed by sensationalism.

2. Who can/should be held accountable for the protests? Who can you call on to stop them? You can try to shut down mass protests by force if you like, but you risk even greater violence and uprising. You can't close a protest like you can close a bar.

The protests are certainly a public health risk right now, but they're smaller and less manageable risks than public businesses. Sad but true.

So it's a numbers game.

Or it's a power game - overpower the authority and you can run your business, mafioso style.

These are not good arguments. They seem contrived and desperate to clear Cuomo. Not surprising Cuomo is a dem.

I haven't attempted any defense of Cuomo's handling of the virus. But objecting to enforcement of business regulations by pointing the the protests is a bad argument.

If you object to the protests as a safety hazard, tell us what you think should be done about them. If you object to the enforcement of business regulations because you don't believe COVID is actually a threat, that's another debate altogether, and your point of view would support the protests anyway.

Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, American's health care system was already coded blue. What was driving it into the ground was price failures, administrative waste, and in some cases, inappropriate care," Samadi surmised. "While there were many nurses, doctors, and other supportive medical personnel who have been able to work taking care of patients with coronavirus, many other health care workers were furloughed depending on their positions.

While New York has weathered the brunt of coronavirus infections and deaths, the state’s apparent hoarding of medical supplies, and the millions spent on equipment that never arrived, as well as unused hospitals and beds, have some questioning what went wrong.

Early to mid-March projections of the spread of COVID-19 had the state scrambling to bolster its hospital bed capacity to more than double its 53,000 maximum status-quo. Subsequently, hospitals statewide were ordered to discharge patients to free up beds, and forced to add new ones as non-emergency procedures were canceled.

I'm not going to get into the political back-and-forth, but anyone who wants to ask, why did the state do that with COVID patients in nursing homes? It’s because the state followed President Trump’s CDC guidance," Cuomo responded

tholdren
06-16-2020, 02:42 PM
"The Cuomo administration points to state and federal regulations that predate the pandemic, which require facilities to accept only those patients they can care for. In addition, earlier state communications encouraged nursing homes to stay current with CDC guidance," Politifact explained. "But once the state issued its March 25 advisory, nursing home operators said that they felt they had no choice but to accept residents who were either known to be infected or suspected to be. That’s because the March 25 memo did not say anything about making sure that a nursing home can care for a patient before making an admission decision, and said they 'must comply with the expedited receipt of residents.' In the month following the memo, nursing homes pleaded for relief from the order."

It concluded, "We rate his statement Mostly False
