Though Wentworth, a comedian, explained that this was a way in which she could provide context about the practice to her kids. You see, watching it with her kids would allow her to explain how it’s exploitative of the actors in pornographic productions.

Hard to decipher if "that one time" is a conversational tool or if it's really 'just once'. The way she uses it is somewhat awkward, tbh.

But whether it's once or regularly has not really been at issue.

And sure the potential for dog whistling is absolutely there. There's a certain portion of the population and a large prevalence among the elites to promote the sexualization of minors.

The question is whether it's appropriate or not to watch porn with children. You seem to be in support of it.

I don't think it's appropriate to do so all the time, that's creepy weird. I do think it's valid, if a parent chooses to do so, to have one session where they go over it, watch and talk about it.

It's not complicated, these conversation happen anyways when a parent catches their children watching porn, or when some movie goes into an explicit sex scene, and you get det awkward moment.

Just like parents used to take their male kids to a whorehouse to get 'initiated' back in the day.

I support sex education. I think porn sends the wrong message when it comes to education, and I think it's important that kids understand that's not what real sex looks like.

Your repeated appeals to chumpette feelings makes you look really weak.

I think your opinion is wrong, at least when it comes to "one time" for sex-ed. As a matter of fact, I think that happens a lot, even inadvertently, when a parent and a teenage son/daughter are watching a movie with explicit content.

And I'm not appealing to anything, I'm pointing out the fact that as much as you want to make this about me, and what 'I' think or what 'I' support, it's actually you standing alone in that hill.

The whorehouse thing is very, very old school. I don't know it still goes on, but it was super common back in the day (well, except if you're a mormon, I guess, then you kept in the family). Talk about hands-on education.

I'm not saying this is the usage this woman intended here (impossible to tell with that extremely poor written article) but the use of the modal verb "would" as "past habitual" is very common, tbh.

We also use “would” in everyday speech to talk about repeated actions in the past. This usage is called “past habitual.” Here’s an example:

When I was little, I would play hopscotch with my friends.

As pointed out in that link, the proper use of past habitual entails stating the time period in the first part of the sentence. Which is not the case here.

For that sentence to be past habitual, it would need to read like "Whenever they watch, I would watch it with them", or "Last year they watched, so I would watch it with them".

We also use 'would' all the time to point to things we would've done but did not. After all, it's the past of will.

ie: "I wish I would have done that in Y way".

More than a shitty answer, I think it's missing the question (I don't care to dig deeper, but anybody that does, feel free). The context of the sentence leads one to believe she was asked how she deals with her teenage kids watching porn.

How is the past time period implied?

And I didn't make up the rules, it's right there on the link DAF provided:
There are two rules for this usage. The first is that we must state the time period in the first part of the sentence -- “When I was little” for example. Second, we only use “would” this way with action verbs, such as “play” in the hopscotch example. We do not use it with stative verbs, such as: live, be, know, think, understand or want.
