Hell of a ride it was though. Deserves its own thread and to be applauded tbh.

All thanks to Bryn Forbes. :downspin:

Well actually Pop, I guess. Not Forbes' fault he doesn't have the ability. The Bubble minutes from DW and Keldon showed just how fucking absurd it was for Bryn to be third in minutes on this team.

It was a hell of a ride. However much blame Pop deserves this year, he was a big part of having that streak in the first place. Sure Tim Duncan is an all-time great but coaching matters to some extent.

There's no tie-breaker. We just don't have the chance of getting to the Suns and Grizzlies winning % because we played two less games.

This is all on the FO and Pop. Awful personal decisions compounded by even worse rotations. Shameful. The team should have at least matched last year's 48 win total. Likely another first round loss but a grossly mismanaged team has to be said.

It's good actually. This team needed to bottom out and we may be there or it may be next year when derozz and LMA are gone.

The streak, which was psychological mainly, convinced pop to go with vets. Now we'll get the best players playing and not adherence to an iso heavy system

Draft order is stuck on the position it was pre covid

The only thing that affects draft order since the bubble is who makes the playoffs

If the blazers lose, they will have a worse win percentage than the Suns, so the Suns would make the play in tournament for the 8th seed.

If the suns beat the grizzlies twice, they become the 8th seed in the playoffs and forfeit their 10th pick and everyone else moves up and they move to 15th

Spurs franchise looking at the reality of the situation they have. The big 3 era is over. Kawhi is long gone.

What a great run they had but we all saw this coming. So if you get knocked down you get back up that's probably how the Spurs will approach next season. Pop said he will be the head coach.

The end of this streak shouldn't be look at as anything negative but to just appreciate the players and great coaching the Spurs had been blessed with all those seasons and the 5 NBA titles won. It had to end at some point and it's history now.

Spurs need to get better as a team, start another streak next season.

The Griz and Suns finished with 34 wins. If the Spurs had 34 wins (with fewer games played) they would have finished 8th, ahead of Portland.

They had the same chance as anyone, and the fewer games played was an asset. They pissed off too many games that they absolutely should have won. Any 2 of them would have kept the streak alive. That, and only that, is the reason they didn't make the playoffs. If you want to whine about the number of games played, you need some Vagisil and a Midol.

I think the future of the franchise in SA will all come down to whether they get a new arena in the future. Even though the lease was extended with the 100 plus million in renovations to the AT&T center, they will want a new arena at some point. If it is voted down they will relocate to a city that gives them what they want.

I don't see them moving. My home team the Hornets have been trash for a long time and with poor attendance but they are not going anywhere. It's not really that easy to relocate as you make it sound. There are very few new markets to move into.

Only 5 teams in the last 10 years have gotten new NBA arenas. The Pistons,Kings,Bucks,Magic,Warriors. 5 of those teams prior to getting their new arenas were playing in old arenas that had been around since the 80's so they were due for a new Arena. The Warriors had been in Oracle since the 70's. The rest of the league had updated their arenas during the 90's and 00's. I don't see any other new arenas being built any times soon for the 26 other franchises. The only franchise I can think of right now is the Knicks with the Garden being real old.

it does seem that the trend in the NBA is 100 million plus renovations to arenas. I think that Phoenix agreed to a $300 million arena renovation. When I lived in Minneapolis there was talk of a new arena but they did a renovation of the target center instead.

They recently spent a billion to renovate MSG so I don't think it's going anywhere, though the NY city council did vote to have it torn down by 2023. Dolan will probably get another 10 year extension, especially with Covid putting most cities into debt.
