Nobody wants to close the economy and hide. We know what we're dealing with and have to move smarter. I'd advise the elderly to stay home and limit contact to a few people, though

Germany didn’t close the economy down. They relied on testing (the good tests they developed and that the WHO is using, not the shitty tests we insist on using to enrich BigPharma) and contact tracing. Unemployment there went up less than 1% in March. Murcia only closed the economy because muh privatized healthcare was grossly unprepared for the pandemic and couldn’t provide the infrastructure Germany or South Korea’s healthcare system provided.

Trump has said something along those lines. Protect the elderly. Get back to school but if you are over 65 and/or have pre-existing conditions maybe you should not return to teach this year, etc.

Trump says alot of things but they have to be interpreted by others, just like you are doing. After almost 4 years, you would think trump would just plainly say what he means so others dont have to explain what he said.
Where is comprehensive covid plan?
Where is the health care plan that he was touting to replace the Affordable Care Act. Or was plan just to get rid of it and not care about anyone but rich? Extremely mixed message for a leader of a first world country. But am sure you will provide a response for this too.

I'm not a fan of his response to COVID. Several things he could have and should have done better. And if he loses the election, that will be why.
Any hope of the Republicans putting out their own health care plan died on the senate floor when McCain wanted to get cute and flip off Trump. ACA is still the law of the land so to speak, as a result.

Why couldn’t they make their “health plan” part of the same bill repealing Obamacare? There’s no logical reason they needed to repeal Obamacare before even revealing what their replacement plan was. They never had any intention of replacing Obamacare, they wanted to dupe America into thinking they were going to replace Obamacare with “something better” that would provide the preexisting condition protections Obamacare provided. Fortunately it was only retarded Trump supporters who fell for it and Congressmen in swing districts got their asses hand to them in 2018.
The only reason McCain and milquetoast Susan Collins voted against repealing Obamacare was because there was no replacement.

Give me some examples of Democrats trying to hide legislation from the American people. Be specific.
I'd say what we had before Obamacare (i.e., what we would have had if Republicans had gotten their bill passed) where people with pre-existing conditions couldn't get health insurance unless it was through an employer is a lot worse than Obamacare.

Obamacare's biggest failing is that it didn't provide a public option that could have begun the process of demolishing the insanely stupid system that is employer-based healthcare.
For all the "muh small business!" rhetoric from Republicans, one of the biggest reasons small businesses thrive in other countries a lot more than they do here is because of a healthcare system that relies on employers to be the primary facilitators of health insurance coverage (even before Obamacare, small businesses provided health insurance, so blaming Obamacare for that is disingenuous). It's not a burden for a company with 100,000 employees to provide healthcare - they have a giant risk pool and they can self-insure (which most of them do). Companies with <500 employees don't have the same luxury and can't self insure.

Much worse was Roberts allowing states to opt out of Medicaid expansion, causing 15K deaths in those states, and an actual lower longevity vs states that expanded Medicaid.
Companies providing group plans is a historical perversion (goes back WWII labor shortage in SF Bay shipbuilding) that USA can't correct, eg, by switching from for-profit scam to Medicare for All

There's only one reason to hide any kind of plan from people: it fucking sucks ass. Otherwise, there's absolutely no reason. Heck, it was a moment where they could've made political gains.
The strategy for repealing Barrycare first was so there would be all these million of people that suddenly had no insurance, and they could ram whatever piece of shit plan they were thinking about, so they could at least say, "hey, this is better than nothing".

Still Obamacare's biggest failing is giving employers an out by making them only cover employees that work a certain number of hours a week. Should have made it something like 5
Obamacare biggest failing is that it doesn't control costs, period. You can twist and turn the whole healthcare equation around, but if you don't put price caps on things like medicines, treatments, etc (like every other country in the world) you will simply continue down the same failed path.

take care of your elders. trump wants them dead sooner rather later.
Your post is quite a jump from that video - seeing that the older one is, the more likely (loosely speaking) it is that he/she is Republican. Are you saying Trump wants to kill off the people who make up most of his base?

There's only one reason to hide any kind of plan from people: it fucking sucks ass. Otherwise, there's absolutely no reason. Heck, it was a moment where they could've made political gains.
The strategy for repealing Barrycare first was so there would be all these million of people that suddenly had no insurance, and they could ram whatever piece of shit plan they were thinking about, so they could at least say, "hey, this is better than nothing".
I still think they had no plan and they wanted to simply repeal Obamacare to make it so things went back to the way they were.
Agreed though that if they actually had a better plan it would have been revealed.

Absolutely.
Much worse was Roberts allowing states to opt out of Medicaid expansion, causing 15K deaths in those states, and an actual lower longevity vs states that expanded Medicaid.
Companies providing group plans is a historical perversion (goes back WWII labor shortage in SF Bay shipbuilding) that USA can't correct, eg, by switching from for-profit scam to Medicare for All
I think there is a misunderstanding of Medicare on this board. I don't know one person who has Medicare that is not using it under a "for profit" company (like Avmed or Blue Cross Blue Shield) - these are usually Medicare Advantage plans - ranging from HMO-types (limited area, limited physician network) to PPO-types (like what my mother in law has) with virtually unlimited geographic coverage and physician network (she pays iirc over $3000 per year in addition to the $144.60 per month that most people have to pay for Medicare Part B). I don't know a single person who uses the Original (government) Medicare because you'd be on the hook for 20% of almost everything.

It seems to me the much touted Medicare for All on this board is actually MEDICAID if you are not expecting to pay all the costs associated with linked page above. Let's call a spade a spade and not mix up the meaning of "government run" Medicaid (or similarly VA) with "for profit" Medicare Advantage - that many seniors are pleased with.
