I don't think we have better information for making that call vs January 2020. We know what we don't know (if that makes any sense). It's not our first rodeo. The CDC of all people knows you start with high PPE and then reduce. Ever see a space movie where they step out of the ship with no protection and then start adding it? Probably not. They have full gear and slowly remove things as they get data that the place can support human life. The CDC took the opposite tact with the public than they take internally. So did the surgeon general (gee, wonder how many surgeries he performed without a mask) and so did Fauci. This was a concerted effort, and the flip flop was also a concerted effort. When the medical community is giving advice based on political pressure, how much trust can you put in them to offer the truth? This is why conspiracy theories spring up and that actually does more harm than good.

The Trump White House has installed two political operatives at the nation’s top public health agency to try to control the information it releases about the coronavirus pandemic as the administration seeks to paint a positive outlook, sometimes at odds with the scientific evidence.

The two appointees assigned to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Atlanta headquarters in June have no public health background. They have instead been tasked with keeping an eye on Dr. Robert Redfield, the agency director, as well as scientists, according to a half-dozen CDC and administration officials who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal government affairs.

The appointments were part of a push to get more “politicals” into the CDC to help control messaging after a handful of leaks were “upsetting the apple cart,” said an administration official.

I didn't say that, you were asking about what I intend to do, what I would do in the future.

For the present I mask up in enclosed areas always, until COVID-19 passes from hysterical misery into everyday unhappiness, may it be so someday.

I try to be mindful of coughing and sneezing. I'm not perfect in this regard, sneezing and coughing are sometimes involuntary.

I try to avoid close talking and raising my voice, though it is sometimes vexing to speak from behind a mask. If I have to raise my voice, I try not to speak directly at people.

You can't prevent harm absolutely, but you can do certain things to mitigate risk.

You can also not worry about it. As ever, caring is optional.

Started getting a fever today in addition to the coughing and loss of taste. I called a few places to see if I can get tested. Most said stay home, and others said I need to be referred by a doctor to get one. My job wants me to come in anyway. FML
