Late to the party...I guess if there's any silver lining there's atleast one difference between The Bot and McCarthy. That's a game the Cowboys would always come up short in during The Bot's tenure (or be on the other side of)

I don't think so. Seahawks, 49ers (as long as they're not TOO unhealthy), Arizona, Green Bay, Saints, maybe even the Rams tbh (this year's version, not last year's) are better.

Why kick from such a long distance? Why no Mahomes sneaks on 4th and short? I don't get it. Yeah he got hurt on a sneak last year but that was a fluke play. You can't coach the rest of his career taking the sneak out of the playbook just over 1 fluke injury.
The kick is going to miss and Reid is going to be crucified.

Fuck Houston, seriously. They are the Matt Bonner of NFL teams. I was down by 20 and needed a basic performance by Mahomes and DHops to win, and bitch ass Houston let's my opponent's (Baltimore) defense drop like 20 on me.

The only major flaw the Seahawks have is Pete Carroll and his geriatric conservatard decision making.... that's a "go for it" situation all day, especially if you have Wilson and those weapons.

To beat this new Patriots look offense, you have to just not let them inside the 10 yard line... you stand a pretty good chance between the 20s if you have any kind of a competent defense though. Seattle hasn't done a good job of getting off the field on 3rd downs tonight.

In all honestly that was a helluva performance, wire to wire, by Newton against a SB contender with a bunch of defensive playmakers. 30 points (really 23 by Newton with little help from the running backs) was excellent.
Every single Patriots-Seahawks game in the Wilson era going down to the 1 yard line on the last play.... that has to be some kind of sports statistical anomaly.

And still clutch af in the 4th quarter, something he’s always been despite the crappy starts in the past. He only ran it 2-3 times today, but the biggest moment for me was when they were up 24-20 with 3 minutes left and a 3rd and 9 at midfield, dolphins had one timeout remaining. Easy run (or screen at the most) call, yet they trusted him to sling it for the kill shot. To me that’s the biggest indicator of QB success in this league: what your coaches trust you with on 3rd and long. Been watching the NFL for over 30 years, and that metric (for lack of a better word) never fails.
He will still make some stupid mistakes, especially against stiffer competition, but if you can’t see how he’s grown by leaps and bounds each year then your willfully ignorant.

Jets and Lawlphins effect tbh.
If he does the same thing and they beat the mighty Rams next week I'll eat some crow, but Trash Allen has done zero up to this point but stat pad on easy teams with lousy defenses and no pass rush.

If Cam stays healthy, the Patriots are for sure a playoff team, possibly winning the division. But that defense isn’t getting them to a Super Bowl. The secondary, yet again, is super overrated and totally dependent on forcing turnovers, which is a fluky way to win.
I mean Gilmore was defending pretty well in man coverage against a tight end with 4.3 speed and crazy athleticism that just so happens to play WR. McCourty got a pick 6. That's all you can ask. I agree the Patriots pass rush is atrocious except for maybe that young guy with the Slavic name (not Ninkovich, but the new one). And their LBs are obviously depleted considering their best opted out of the season and their next best 2 left in free agency. Losing Duron Harmon also hurt because he had an uncanny knack for the football that was outright bizarre.
Think about it... Cam put up 23 points (30 total for the Patriots) and over 400 yards without his only scatback (White), on the road against an above average defense (admittedly, with no fans). Look at how well he did with McCaffrey in '17, it's a position that Cam loves to exploit and he did so well without him. The Patriots offense will be very tough to stop this year.
The Patriots are the class of the AFC East; the Bills will be 8-8ish, and the Jets and Dolphins in the top 5-10 draft order running again.

Byron Jones sucks ass. I saw just about every one of his snaps for 5 years. He had a grand total of 2 picks in FIVE YEARS, one of which was on a halftime hail mary from Jameis Winston and the other was off a D-Line deflected pass in garbage time against the Redskins. He doesn't even try to go for the ball. QBs aren't scared to throw his way because it'll either be a catch or incomplete. And he's a terrible tackler. Cowboys couldn't get rid of him fast enough. And they get a 3rd round comp pick for him. Sweet deal.
Howard is very good but overpaid and not a shut down corner. Heck, both of them are overpaid. They don't have a pass rush anymore. They don't really have LBs either. They stink.

The New Orleans Saints are a fail-proof, well-oiled machine. The loss of Thomas doesn't hurt so much because of the system. They're not so talent-reliant as some other contenders. Similar to the 49ers, who will be just fine without Bosa, Mostert etc. Kittle and Dee Ford are coming back. They'll be fine.

AFC west is lowkey more than decent, tbh. i said during the draft that i liked Lamb and Jeudy more than Ruggs... but Gruden envisions Ruggs as a weapon like Tyreek. like i said right after the pick, its really up to Gruden to make this work and justify the pick, because yeah Lamb and Jeudy are much more prototypical receivers that looked pro ready
Tyreek wasnt really a #1 receiver until years 2-3 either, but he also was converting from running back and not a first rounder

I think Jeudy is pretty good but Lamb really looks elite, and that's not homerism, it's actually unfortunate because he'll get well over 1000 yards this year and pad Prescott's stats and increase Prescott's price tag. I'm still hoping the Cowboys sell high on Prescott even if they win double digits and make the playoffs.

darren Waller is a different kind of animal... not very many actually successfully make the conversion from WR to TE without being a fat loafer who's only good for blocking.
IMO Waller is pretty similar to DK Metcalf with his size/speed/body type combo, though Metcalf's 4.3 > Waller's 4.45 but it's not too far off

AFC South has been a pleasant surprise as well. Other than Houston (who had to play the 2 best teams in the AFC), they’ve all looked great (Titans) to competitive (Jags, Colts). Houston will turn it around once the schedule gets easier but they look punchless without Hopkins.
