Yet another Louisiana hit. And once again, they're downplaying the intensity. From Arthur to Zeta, 2020 has been downright insane. :lol

Ugh go into Florida, I'm sick of these Louisiana hurricanes blowing humid air into Texas every fucking time we actually get some nice cool weather.

This one looks like a real Metairie/NOLA hit unlike the last two which hit near the LA/TX border.

Impossible, the Zetas rape and breed every hapless young lady they come across, on both sides of the border tbh.

BTW the "Winter Storm Billy" thing is a NBC/The Weather Channel made up concoction, it's not an official name as per government/NOAA standards. Purely private sector unofficial naming of the winter storms for about a decade now.

This one doesn't need to force it. It's young and vigorous. Very...vigorous

Heading this way tomorrow night but too weak for anyone to care.

90-100 mph hurricane isn't necessarily too weak, but it will be fast moving due to the cold front coming in from the west so the risk for a large storm surge and extended rainfall is minimal.

90 MPH approaching landfall, could make a late run at Cat 2

Darth_Pelican

Possibly a weak Cat 2 but Cat 1 more likely due to the speed. Just left the office. The streets look like business as usual right now. No real concern other than probably losing power this evening.

They're in for a big surprise. Strong Cat 2 and could make a run at major Cat 3 status (only 10 mph away) and very large and well organized:

The way it's hitting is concerning... The only good news is the forward speed is faster than, say, Katrina, but the landfall intensity will be scarily similar... Saints might need to cancel all their home games the rest of the year.

The way it's hitting... could simply dump Lake P into the big bowl again on its way out, just like in '05. Also, I read somewhere that the pumps in NOLA are currently shut down for construction/maintenance... this could be a MAJOR disaster, on the eave of the election to boot.

Millennial_Messiah

NOLA got lucky with other storms since '05 like Gustav, Isaac etc since they hit from a different angle... this one is hitting at a similar angle as Katrina and further west than Katrina... could be the worst thing NOLA has had since Katrina herself.

Each and every ardent, astute Millennial knows this track from childhood and what it means... in the era before NBC ruined The Weather Channel for good... It is Kairotic, kairos, in the moment... let it flow, let it flow, let it flow... all into the great big bowl...

Darth_Pelican Pelicans78 y'all still got power tbh?

Lost power for 30 minutes or so, it’s back now. Pretty impressive winds to see in person, but nothing devastating. I’m sure people right on the coast felt the wrath. I’m sure the media will bastardize it as devastating, but nothing happened other than some outages and probably some fallen trees & fences. People will be back at work here tomorrow.

I live in Lake Charles. We’ve already reached our Hurricane quota for the year. Luckily Zeta was very fast moving and not as powerful like Laura was for us. We lost power for two weeks from that storm as well as water so we were evacuated during that time. Hurricane Delta wasn’t as nearly bad for us though it dumped a lot more rain than Laura did but we only lost power for about 36 hours.

Gotta hand it to TWC though. On their website, they do a great job sensationalizing their headlines. They make every hurricane, no matter how small, seem like the great Red Spot itself came ashore from Jupiter tbh

Still nothing compared to 2005 though in terms of their sensationalist, epic visual viewer experience, from the visuals to the audio to the on camera meteorologist and on-site field met dramatics. 2005 was a well deserved ratings boom for TWC tbh.

It's just too bad that they declined big time not too long after that, and they desperately tried to piggyback off 2005 -- in 2006 and 2007 by hyping up weak tropical storms as if it were 2005 again and it just looked pathetic on their part. They can't control the weather, but they should have just gone back to their regular pre-2004 presentation scheme/weather star system which was just fine tbh. All the changes they made around winter 2005/spring 2006 and thereforward just ruined that channel for me.

But, yet, just this month (October 2020) I still fulfilled one of my childhood dreams by traveling to Atlanta, to the far northwest edge of the city to touch and take a selfie with the TWC HQ building. Because, other than the Spurs games and the '04 election (I didn't get into the NFL and the Cowboys until Romo in 2006), the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons were pretty much my life as a pre-teen kid. The trip as a whole was very much worth it. :toast
