:lmao when he actually has to throw the ball, playing from behind... he turns the ball over. At a torrid rate.

Not an elite QB. Not top 10.

Discuss.

He actually moved the ball pretty well today while behind in the 4th quarter, tbh. He had a TD drive and two other good drives, one where they barely missed a 4th down conversion and the other where they ran out of time after a shot at the end zone.

His problems were the turnovers he had while tied or ahead, tbh. In any case, he's still one of the best QBs in the league. The Ravens where shit before he took charge and now they are one of the best teams in the league. The entire Ravens' run offense works thanks to Lamar running ability and his vision to run the option. That said, yeah, he will need to improve a bit more as a pocket passer.

he was converting on a scoring percentage last year that was untennable this year, and that shitty option is always easy to sniff out for elite defenses.

So? When you run the ball as much and try to control the game clock you will tend to have lower yardage totals. How can you say a team has been "figured out" when they are still winning games at a high clip while averaging 30 pts per game? :lol

You are confusing "semantics" with two very different, very distinct things, tbh. :lol

Mahomes 50 TDs/5000 yards debut season was unsustainable, hence why he only threw for 26 TDs the next season. That, clearly, didn't mean he was figured out though. :lol

Dude, that's exactly what happened to Mahomes to a T. :lol All of his stats dropped dramatically (I would argue even more dramatically than Lamar's) from one year to the next.

If you don't understand the difference between seeing your stats decrease and being "figured out" then that's on you, tbh. I will help you out, I hope you take the explanation.

Seeing your stats decrease means that your statistical output diminished from your previous year, and, although it is never a good thing to see your production dip, sometimes it doesn't mean much, specially when you come from having historic, monster, MVP seasons like Lamar and Mahomes did.

Being figured out means that opposing teams have found a way to make you ineffective and you can no longer be a productive, positive impact player.

Seeing how Lamar can still lead a team that puts 30 ppg and wins over 70% of its games, the logical conclusion is that he hasn't been "figured out" but, rather, that he's just seeing his historic, unsustainable production from last season revert to more normal standards, which are still pretty good by basing it on results, tbh.

sometimes players are putting up numbers that are unsustainable, and that stretch may last a full season or so, and then despite their talent and level of play being somewhat similar, they aren't putting up the same numbers.

lamar jackson having 36 passing TDs while the team was averaging among the least pass attempts per game was never going to sustain, even if he played at exactly the same level

an example in raider land was Maxx Crosby getting 10 sacks last year, despite most advanced stats showing he wasn't generating pressures at a very high rate, but an inordinate amount of his pressures were leading to sacks at a rate that likely wasn't sustainable. his production has fallen back to earth this year, though i dont necessarily think he's been much worse

with that said, i havent watched jackson very closely at all this year, so i cant really comment on how his level of play has been

Blake
11-02-2020, 08:02 PM

My guess is that teams on the schedule took the entire off season to study tape as to the best way to stack the line.

Neo.
11-02-2020, 09:32 PM
i dont think lamar has regressed as much as some people seem to suggest

but mahomes "dropoff" to jacksons dropoff isnt very comparable at all

about the only major dropoff mahomes had was TD passes. but basically all his other averages and percentages were comparable, or even superior. mahomes "dropoff" wasnt that he was a lesser quality player. the passing game simply wasn't featured quite as much. in fact, even with the decrease in stats, one could argue that he seemed to be a clearly better football player the next year, due to his experience and natural maturation seen through his poise. he seemed to be even more calm and collected than before. and also despite the small decrease in some stats, he still had among the best passing stats in all of football.

in lamars case, his passing stats have regressed noticably in all categories, while actually passing the ball at a higher rate. not only that, just watching him, he just doesn't seem quite as dominant as he was for most of last year. there could be a number of reasons for that, and for all we know, the rest of the year he could end up going back to looking like he did last year. but as of now, its clear he has not played nearly as well and its affected his team noticeably. and his stats place him around the middle to lower end of the pack of QBs this year.

the differences so far between their MVP season to the next, is just not very much alike at all.

With one of two losses coming against 7-0 Steelers which was far more of a self destruction then a Stooler win.

He cleans up the bad INTs and gets some real receivers and he'll be fine.

Needs to clean up his throwing motion technique, I'll give you that. Can't always be throwing outs off your back foot and sidearmed. They fall short.

Agree. If Baltimore flames out again this playoffs they're just regular season stat padders.
Jackson needs to cut the turns, but also needs more support from the team.

Nah. He needs to be traded to fetch a couple 1sts to some team who just hired an offensive coach from the college ranks. While they still can, before his stock drops too low. He's another one of those QBs who teams must win "in spite of", rather than "because of"... Ravens have a lot of players to pay, especially on D, and they're a defense first team... that would be the smart power play for the Ravens, rather than giving Jackson 40+ million a year he hasn't earned. Zero playoff wins and neither losses were close.

Pssssh.
Check out the receiver drops vs Tennessee. Including 2 for TDs. OLine can't clear room on 4th and 1 not once but twice?
How the hell is that on Jackson?

The defense couldn't get a stop vs the Stoolers for the win. Altho we can agree the 40 yard *pass interference* that propelled Rapeburger on the winning t.d. drive was suspect. Of course network showed zero replays.

There can be many different reasons why players struggle: injuries, momentary confidence issues, lost of talent on teammates, opposing teams adjusting to you (without getting to the point of figuring you out).

Mahomes and the Chiefs were 6-4 last season and people were already dismissing them. As it turns out, they hadn't been figured out, they were just having a rough patch, like every team and player faces many times during their careers.

Yeah that's been my opinion of him this year, even tho that was nearly two years ago. Teams get tape of run first QBs. They spend the off season watching the tendencies, know when and where to close off those gaps quickly.

He really needed to take a step forward this year in the passing game and he hasn't.

2018 he started like 8 games so there was plenty of tape to view him.
2019 he buttrammed the NFL for 1200 yards rushing and 36 td's on only 6 ints. Until the Tenn choke which we can agree to disagree was 10% on him and 90% on his teamates and vastly overated Harbaugh.

2020 i have seen about parts of 3 games and i will give you he has made some pathetic throws, in momentum changing situations too. That New England game you could sense was gonna be close. Giving up the most probable at least FG just before halftime on a pathetic INT was turrrble. His INT vs Pittsburg was the huge momentum changer of the game which they were leading handily and has Pittsburg and StoolerRef on their heals. Turrble.

That having been said, vs Tenn he drives the team down for the would be winning TD, makes a throw that was gonna be at least 1st and goal (if not a TD) and one of the numb nutts OL did a false start. This type of shit is chronic with this team. Who has more support, Mahomes or Jackson? Not even close.

Yeah, so? Cleveland is 11-5 this season. 11-3 vs teams not named Ravens. :lol

The overall record for the AFC North is 38-25-1 this year, that's the best of any division. It doesn't matter against whom on that division the Ravens got the wins, because it's still better than any other.

Also, let's not act as if the Ravens wouldn't have beaten the shit out of the Steelers had Lamar played instead of that 3rd string QB on their last meeting. :lol

Saying that Jackson is a fool's gold regular season player is way more sensible than saying he was "figured out" after going 11-4, with 30 TD's, and leading the 7th highest scoring offense in the league, tbh.

You're the one excusing him from the MVP race, daughter.

You're also already excusing his early exit from the playoffs.

Just give it up already.

If you oughta know, Lamar was 7th on my MVP list, tbh.

Anyway, not being in a top 5 MVP list doesn't mean a guy has been "figured out", tbh. But you know that, you are just desperately trying to move the goalposts to defend your retarded take, tbh. Or maybe you don't know that and I'm giving you too much credit for thinking otherwise, and you trully are a full blown retard, instead of just a guy that had a retarded take, tbh. Lamar may have to play in his 1st snow game, ever.
40% chance in Buffalo as of today, Tuesday.

I don't like it.

Clear conditions and 2nd place MVP Lamar leads the team to another win.
Snow, gotta give the advantage to Allen and the Bills.

wow on the Pick 101 look how much of an opening Lamar had to run left. We're talking either TD or nice gain.
But it was 3rd and goal so....endzone or bust was the mindset. Would be interesting to see how a run turned out there. If you have to watch the whole video, wait for the overhead view. I tried locking it in at the :35-38 mark.

Played great in the first half?!?! What measuring stick are you using? He didn’t give the game away in the first half yet? They scored 3 points all game. At no point did he play well or they would have had more than 3 points

Actually watching the game.

Opening drive: 12 plays 52 yards. Completes 3rd down pass to give FG kicker very makeable 41 yarder. Yes even in that wind. Kicker shanked it. Right there was a chance for Baltimore to at least get some momentum.
2nd drive: Pinned at their own 10, he does a nice run on 1st down to get some breathing room. 2nd down run the Ravens get stuffed for no gain. 3rd and 5 and plenty of momentum on the line, Jackson does a GREAT scramble to avoid getting sacked and delivers an absolute strike pass to RB Dobbins for the 1st down +. Dobbins drops the fucking ball. Instead of 1st down, Ravens have to punt. Punter shanks the kick out of bounds for only 23 yards. Bills get ball on Ravens 38. They run some plays, get stopped and kick the short field goal.

How the fuck you can blame Jackson at this 0-3 point shows you didn't watch the game / dk football.

Teams exchange nothing burger drives and Ravens have the ball again. This time LJ drives them 40 yards to set up another makeable fg. Kicker double doinks the bars and misses.
Ya that's Jacksons fault.

Throw in a couple more snaps from center that completely missed Jackson and set up 20 yards for a 1st and you got it.

Now the Pick 101? Horrendous. But you asked about the 1st half.

LOL ya it's QBs fault when pass spot on pass is dropped by receiver.
Also when kicker misses two FGs.
Did you watch the 1st half?
