And being middle of the road independent I want no part of Liz Warren.

Any chances that either Warren or Bernie would be picked for a cabinet spot died the minute dems failed to exceed expectations in the senate. They’ll be lucky to split if they manage to get those two Georgia seats. Cant lose a single one.

That’s exactly why Mitch would say yes, he’d love nothing more than to have Warren and/or Bernie out of his chamber and replaced by a Republican governor.

The fact Mitch would agree to it is why itd be stupid to nominate them to a cabinet post.

Imo, the easy ones

Ron Klain as Chief of Staff - easy way to placate the left without needing a senate confirmation

Heidi Heitkamp as Ag Secretary - Non controversial pick who everyone in the senate liked when she was there.

Steve Bullock as Secretary of Interior - Governor of state with a lot of public land, and I like giving cabinet spots to successful Democrats in red states.

Chris Coons as Secretary of State - Not Susan Rice and gets Coons out of the senate.

Dianne Feinstein as ambassador to Tuvalu (newly created position) - Tuvalu is a Pacific Island with like 10,000 people. Seems like a perfect spot for Feinstein to really make an impact.

Pine Island’s first filings (https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1822835/000110465920107856/tm2029933-3_s1.htm) about the investment vehicle were made in September — the same month Biden suggested (https://www.stripes.com/news/us/biden-says-us-must-maintain-small-force-in-middle-east-has-no-plans-for-major-defense-cuts-1.644631) that he will not push for significant reductions in Pentagon expenditures, which have reached record levels.

“The reputations and networks of Pine Island Capital Partners’ team, both individually and collectively, will ensure exposure to a significant number of proprietary opportunities,” the company said in one SEC document (https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1822835/000110465920107856/tm2029933-3_s1.htm). “We believe there will be increased demand in the U.S. defense market for advanced electronics, communications, sensor and detection processing and other technologies that enhance the modernization efforts of the Department of Defense’s military readiness. We believe this demand represents strong growth that our management team is uniquely positioned to capitalize on given our combined investment experience and deeply connected partner group of former U.S. defense and government officials.”

“This is not an example of people who happen to work at a big company — these are partners at a firm whose stated business model is to profit from the revolving door and connections gained from time in government."https://www.dailyposter.com/p/breaking-potential-biden-officials

The Biden-Harris transition team on Sunday announced the members of its communications team, three of whom worked for CNN and MSNBC, raising questions about the incoming administration’s close ties with the liberal news networks.

A statement released Sunday touted that "for the first time in history, these communications roles will be filled entirely by women." But what also stood out was that several of the new members had deep ties with Democratic administrations as well as mainstream media outlets.

The transition team said that veteran Democratic spokeswoman Jen Psaki will serve as the White House Press Secretary. Psaki, who held several senior roles during the Obama administration, recently left her gig as a CNN contributor to oversee the confirmations team for the Biden-Harris transition.

The election means we have lost another CNN contributor, but by the same token, the Biden team has gained a senior adviser,” CNN’s Anderson Cooper told viewers before welcoming Psaki back to the network to discuss the incoming administration.

Cooper's colleague, left wing anchor Jake Tapper, who has for years railed against the "revolving door" between Fox News and the Trump administration tweeted several times on Sunday announcing Psaki's new role in the Biden administration -- but made no reference to her having worked for CNN.

“It’s an American tragedy and it’s essential that we move with urgency. Inaction will produce a self-reinforcing downturn, causing yet more devastation,” Yellen said.

COVID-19 task force co-chairs named

President-elect Joe Biden has turned to three prominent physicians to lead his coronavirus task force (https://www.statnews.com/2020/11/07/biden-covid-19-task-force/) who have collectively signaled that they will approach the pandemic far differently than the Trump administration, which they have criticized for mixing politics with science.

A top Biden aide on Sunday announced the two co-chairs of the incoming administration’s task force: Vivek Murthy, the former U.S. surgeon general, and David Kessler, the former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. Though the Biden campaign did not formally announce her inclusion on Sunday, Marcella Nunez-Smith, a Yale physician and professor whose research focuses on health disparities, is widely expected to serve as the task force’s third co-chair.

Both Murthy and Kessler are widely known in public health and science for their stints in different presidential administrations. Kessler was appointed in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush, and served into the second term of President Clinton. He left the agency in 1997 to become the dean of the Yale School of Medicine. Murthy, himself a Yale medical school graduate, was appointed U.S. surgeon general under President Obama in 2014.

That’s exactly why Mitch would say yes, he’d love nothing more than to have Warren and/or Bernie out of his chamber and replaced by a Republican governor.

The fact Mitch would agree to it is why itd be stupid to nominate them to a cabinet post.

Didn’t Christie also benefit from being in a state that has governor elections in odd numbered years with depressed turnout? I don’t think Christie ever becomes governor if he was running as part of a normal midterm/general cycle.

This obviates there's different levels of disliking people and policies though. I wouldn't have voted for Old Joe at all if Trump wouldn't be such a horrible president and if I didn't honestly believe democracy in the US is at risk.

It's simply disingenuous to pretend people that voted for Joe love his neocon ass. To be frank, you can shit on leftists all you want, but Joe doesn't pull off this election without their votes. And I don't think it's hyperbole to admit those people had much more motivation to vote Orangina out of office than sitting Old Joe in there.

They care as much about the drone strikes as they do Pete's CIA missions to Africa and the 18th version of Tara Reade's story. It's all for show obviously. Of course we needed some leftists but the hardcore type that pretend to care about drone strikes as soon as the Democrat comes in office are such are a fringe minority they are not even worth discussing. Like I said polls show they scare off more voters than they attract. Just born losers I guess. I don’t really think that’s what it is. Everyone knows Republicans are war mongering neocons so it goes without saying that Trump killed people with drone strikes. Leftists don’t see a need to talk about it, imo the reason they only talk about it when Dems do it is because Dems are supposed to be the anti-war party.

There are literally millions of people my age (millennials in their late 20s and early 30s) who vote Dem because in our formative years we saw GWB commit war crimes in Iraq, and the Democratic Party hasn’t done a great job keeping that group politically engaged (I’m not blaming Biden for that, he did a good job not letting Trump flank him on foreign policy the way he flanked Hillary).

Bernie bro at AmConMag slams Biden's DNI pick, Avril Haines

https://media.npr.org/assets/img/2020/11/28/avril-haines-1-11-28-20-ap_20329722697932_wide-aa5938fc237cbf36eadf39ee034380070d7aa1d3.jpg?s=140 0

Haines is billed as someone who speaks “truth to power (https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/24/politics/biden-haines-intelligence-pick/index.html).” It’s an ironic about-face for the person who decided not to punish those who hacked into the computers of Senate staffers investigating the CIA’s torture program. Haines’ “accountability board” spared CIA personnel from having to answer for their use of torture, and her team redacted the board findings.

Yet Haines is being touted by former Obama administration officials for allegedly making the drone program “more responsible.”
“This is a pretty ominous signal about what is to come” in a Biden administration, a Senate staffer who works on national security issues told (https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-proxy-war-over-joe-biden-adviser-avril-haines) The Daily Beast. “To have [Haines] touted for her record in advancing human rights and respect for the rule of law I don’t think can be adequately squared with not only her record but her deliberate choices of advocacy.”

After a detail to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee put Haines on Biden’s radar in late 2010, she moved to the White House, where she eventually chaired the interagency lawyers’ group that created the legal framework for “targeted killings”—i.e. drone strikes.

Obviously this has literally nothing to do with Obama's VP leading the polls and just pretty much riding partially on Obama's goodwill.

Well this guy (amazingly enough) is also posting all the rats and snake emojis that Warren and Pete and their followers loved so much under all their tweets etc. Now of course per the Spurraider21 theory its Warren and Pete's fault for making social media posts, going to read the replies and interact with their fan or see the feedback and being upset that one guy's fans post a shitload of rats and snakes everywhere and accuse them of being pieces of shit
Yeah of course it has something to do with the primary, who said it doesn't? That's how primaries work, the candidates and their supporters argue over who biggest and best Democrat/Republican are. That's not unique to Rose Twitter Bernie supporters, idk why some moderate Dems are so sensitive about it. The fact Obama didn't do more to end Bush era neoconservative intervention is something he shouldn't be immune from criticism over. In his memoir he says he kept a lot of the intervention going because he couldn't be considered "too liberal" which I thought was ridiculous. He won in 2008 largely because of his opposition to the Iraq War, people put him in office to end wars.

Democrats had an endless amount of moral high ground 12 years ago on foreign policy and its completely evaporated now.

It turns out the only person floating Rahm's name was Rahm himself to try and create media buzz that would lead to a cabinet post :lol, the Biden team isn't even returning his calls. Not a chance he'd waste his AG pick on Perez either, that would piss literally every part of the Democratic Party off. His AG is either gonna be Doug Jones, Sally Yates, or a minority of some sort.

The fact he isn't making Susan Rice secretary of state is a good sign that Biden is staying away from all of the toxic names no matter how well connected they are with the DNC.

Gen. Lloyd Austin, US Army (Ret.,) Secretary of Defense

"There would be less tension” with Austin as defense secretary instead of Johnson or Flournoy, the person said. “Maybe less disagreement … the relationship would be smoother.”https://www.politico.com/news/2020/12/07/lloyd-austin-biden-secretary-defense-frontrunner-contender-443479

Austin, who headed US Central Command under Obama, will need a waiver from Congress since it has been less than seven years since he served. His nomination could draw fire from some progressive groups given his role on the board of a number of companies, including weapons maker Raytheon Technologies Corp .https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/joe-biden-has-chosen-retired-general-lloyd-austin-for-defense-secretary-651448

Austin joined the Army in 1975, but his career is defined by post-9/11 conflicts. He was on the ground early in Iraq, where he was assistant division commander for the 3rd Infantry Division, and Afghanistan, where he commanded the 10th Mountain Division (Light). In 2008, he was named commander of Multi-National Corps-Iraq. Austin also served as director of the Joint Staff, and in 2012 became vice chief of staff of the Army.

His career culminated as the head of U.S. Central Command, which he led from 2013-2016. His time at CENTCOM coincided with the rise of the Islamic State group, better known as ISIS, as well as the effort to grow an anti-ISIS military force in Syria. That train-and-equip mission led to an explosive congressional hearing, where Austin was ripped by members of Congress after he admitted the effort (https://www.defensenews.com/home/2015/09/21/was-syrian-train-and-equip-effort-always-a-mission-impossible/), underway for five months, had produced only “four or five” fighters.

still no Bernie

still no Warren

I doubt either would get past a Repug Senate, and I expect McConnell to DENY many of Biden's nominees, so Biden will finish with Repug/oligarchy Exec branch.

The Dem establishment will continue neoliberal, anti-Labor, war-mongering, drone-assassinating obedience to BigDonor class, the MIC, BigFianance.

They're going to lose the house regardless. Midterms are always bad for incumbents. Probably won't be as bad as the 2006 blood bath after Obamacare but still

What makes you think that? Making political predictions based on 40 year old trends is no longer viable.

Trump was also supposed to win because he was an incumbent who hadn't lost in over 30 years.

I could see it being better if we’re almost fully recovered from COVID and Biden is getting credit for it (ie the same way the GOP did well in the 2002 midterms because of 9/11), but the issue is that 2022 is going to be a freshly gerrymandered congressional map. No way it’ll be as bad as 2010 though, the Democrats handled that midterm horribly in every way.

If Ossoff and Warnock sweep GA either would get past a Republican senate since they'd give McConnell a 51st GOP senator for 6 months.

VT and MA have Republican governors who would nominate Republican senators to replace Sanders / Warren for six months until a special election can be held should either get into Biden's cabinet.

Oh. In the case of Sanders Will Hunting (https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=17032) has pointed out that the governor from there would appoint a Sanders like senator.

Warren was always a long shot. Don’t even know where that rumor comes from. Her best chance at a spot was in 2016 with Hillary imo.

4 Counties Sued For Trying To Rig Georgia Senate Runoffs By Not Providing Early Voting

About $300M so far, mostly oligarchy black money, thanks to oligarchy's SCOTUS extremely activist whores, poured into GA before and since 3 Nov.

Can the oligarchy buy themselves continued Senate control?

America is just another tiny toy for sale, cheap.

$Ts in play for the oligarchy.

Why does Obama have such a hard on for Rahm Emanuel? It's weird.

Also props to Biden and his team for actually saying no to almighty Obama.

Makes me respect Biden a lot more and respect Obama less.

Obama loves to talk out of both ends of his mouth about “hope and change” and “inspiring the youth” but at heart he’s a backroom Chicago politician who’s most concerned with pulling strings for his political allies (ie Tom Perez).

Talking about that douchebag Perez. What is taking leadership so long to put Stacey Abrams in there?

She should already be chairwoman of the DNC. She can do amazing work with voter outreach across the country, not just Georgia. That seems to be her bread and butter.

She wants to run for governor of Georgia in 2022, but either way Perez isn’t done with his term and they need to vote on a new chair, it’s not as simple as replacing Perez.

Soemone should explain to Abrams that 2022 midterms are going to likely be extremely tough for Democrats, so her running for governor would be a long shot and she’d be able to have more of an impact as the DNC chair who’s helping someone like Lance Bottoms run for Governor.

Will Hunting

Quite frankly it’s annoying that voters have basically no impact on who becomes DNC chair. The Democratic Party is operated in an extremely undemocratic way.

When Howard Dean was DNC chair he implemented a 50 state plan that resulted in picking up 52 house seats + 14 senate seats combined in 2006 and 2008. Those would have been waive years for Dems regardless but they picked up senate seats they had no business winning and would have had a super majority for a full year if not for that MA special election. Why the fuck has every DNC Chair since Howard Dean moved away from a 50 state plan that worked so well?

Having her focus on Georgia right now is the best thing for everyone. No sense elevating her out of a position that Dems desperately need right now. Wait until after January.
