Do you know how much the UK spends on their universal healthcare? 10% of their GDP. The US spends over 17% of our GDP on this monstrosity. Again, if you don't rein in costs, then you're not going anywhere.

UK, Canada, etc. - pardon me if I don't want to be waiting months for procedures or begging for vaccines, giving one dose (out of 2 doses) to everyone or mixing vaccines (yeah, let's follow the science). The problem is partly legal - here in the US doctors can be SUED - they can lose everything and the government isn't going to be protecting them against lawsuits - I doubt that is happening in the UK or Canada if the doctors mess up. The educational system is not like UK or Canada where you could go to university for what $10k? These US doctors come out with hundreds of thousands of dollar in debt. And corporate - do you think BigPharma, BigInsurance, BigHospital, etc. is going to take this lying down - no, they would be fighting tooth and nail against it. Who are you kidding? 60% of US patients have to wait 2+ weeks to get an appointment with a PCP, over 3 weeks with a specialist. Emergency wait times are over 2 hours. You can't even schedule a procedure if the insurance didn't give the thumbs up, and if they don't, good fucking luck.
And this is with insurance. If you don't have insurance, good luck paying to see a doctor or a night at the hospital.

Doctors can be sued for malpractice everywhere in the world, just like Medicare or the NHS are. That includes Canada (here (https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/medical-malpractice-doctors-lawsuits-canada-1.4913960)) and the UK (see (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3591809/)). So that point is moot.
