SICK CALL

Every Bobcats starter sat out practice Tuesday with various aches and pains. Brevin Knight, Emeka Okafor and Primoz Brezec will likely play tonight, but coach Bernie Bickerstaff said Kareem Rush (jammed left thumb) and Gerald Wallace (mild concussion) are doubtful.

The injuries greatly limited the Bobcats' preparation.

"We really needed a good practice," Bickerstaff said. "We haven't held a real practice (with full contact) since Tuesday" before the opener against Chicago.

Bickerstaff said center Jake Voskuhl (high ankle sprain) doesn't have the lateral movement yet to be activated.

FLAT START

Bickerstaff is surprised how poorly the Bobcats started out in both home games. They fell behind by double digits against Boston and Utah before going to overtime.

"I don't know whether we're feeling too good about ourselves," Bickerstaff said. "We could easily by 4-0."

BLOWOUTS

The Bobcats prided themselves last season in competing no matter whom they played. But the champion Spurs bounced them in both games, by 19 in Charlotte and 17 in San Antonio.

Big a force as Tim Duncan is, the Bobcats' real problem was containing point guard Tony Parker off the screen-and-roll. Parker was high scorer in both games with 20 and 24 points.
