In before Devin sees the court, drops 15 points in 10 minutes against a random good team, and then disappears for the next 50 games.

Play Devin.

Wanted to go ahead and get this inevitable thread made.

Also, I have backed away from yesterday's cliff. This guy might be good.

I think he will be a rotation player by mid-season. We probably will see Murray or Lonnie in a reduced role as an expense. Minutes won't be there for everyone.

Good idea. Best to get it started now so the slurpers can take notice before game 50 when they realize maaaybe Poop made a mistake.

Was the last guard we drafted this high Willie Anderson? I know he was the 10th pick, but it's crazy to think about. We better start this dude.

:pop:He needs at least 4 years in the G League, and then we'll start him off slow with 5 minutes per game until he proves he's a team player.:pop:

Just by starting him instead of Forbes the team would be better. He would fit right in but you know Flopovich got his pecking order

Forbes starting is already out of the question. Not sure why people keep bringing it up like he's going to be handed the starting role again after seeing Lonnie/ White improve the line-up tremendously.

I wouldn’t be so sure. I also wouldn’t be so sure that White is starting this season. We‘re dealing with a 71-year old grandpa here

I'm willing to bet that Forbes won't be resigned by some chance that he his whoever's responsible needs to be set before a firing squad.

Forbes won't be re-signed and if by chance he is re-signed then then they should be placed before a firing squad. You knew what I meant but I didn't use correct grammar so you had to point it out.

I really didn't man. I'm being honest. I read it like three times. I usually ignore improper grammar. I'm not a grammar nazi, I promise. But thank you for re-phrasing it.

Unless he goes on social media and bitches about playing time, which is something that goes against the character he's shown up to this point, he'll get playing time by virtue of his defense.

Nah, it was Gary Neal who was odd man out, I think. Nobody could challenge Dick Jefferson's minutes.

Kawhi was a rotation player from the get go as a 15th pick on a much better team. I don't see any reason why Vassell shouldn't see minutes from day 1, tbh.

Nah bud, it was 15 games in. But I agree, he should get minutes. He should take it from Patty hopefully.

I say start the guy. He's a high draft pick that many had pegged lower than 10. Assuming he can play, why not start him... very much like KL did. Only way this works if we go super small ball with LA as the starting center. Murray, White, DD, Devin and LA. Really it should be Jakob instead of LA.

Man i think we are going to be very tough to beat next year. I think we need to find a way to not let Vassell get lost in the Rookie Abyss. But as usual it's up to Pop.

He should phrase it as an above average clip of making threes. Dude averaged .6 made threes a game. It wasn’t a part of his game last year

GAustex
11-25-2020, 10:28 PM
Got give you the nod on the low volume stats. I would say who would you not want to take a 3 rather than Murray? Jakob for sure; DDR. Who else not counting Cam and that other hyphen name dude. Weatherspoon-nah I’d take Q.
Murray ain’t no point guard- he needs to take and make 3s and lots of them along with that crossover 15 foot or so jump shot.
Get some gravity on offense he needs.

I can't speak for Murray, but I think Lonnie will surprise us this season. He's gotten some noticeable mass and was expanding his game, even in the bubble. Now, with some more time off to work on his game, I can see him getting even better, alongside Keldon. It's actually so sad that the Spurs committed early to Dejounte, because it's not his fault at all, but the Spurs have many other prospects with more upside who could really use the starting 2 spot (assuming White is the de-facto PG)...

My belief is that Pop saw “leadership stuff” with Murray early on and wanted him to be a leader and prioritized him. His game hasn’t reached the expectations of most, but he is still improving, albeit not fast enough for most.

Pop has a really low tolerance for rookies who make dumb fouls. What separated Kawhi from all rookies ever was his ability to play good on-ball defense without fouling. His on-ball and off-ball defense was top notch. Whether that was a factor in gaining those minutes, we don't know (could also be we had nobody behind RJ). Devin's effectiveness on on-ball defense remains to be seen. I have no doubt he is already a better fit in any line-up than our current guards who have been with the team for two years. So him having to be better than the person ahead of him is already a checkmark. I hope he can get those minutes.
