Great news for the Spurs. It's not Forbes' fault that he was hurting the team as much as he was but the only solution was for him to not be on the team anymore. He's useful in a smaller role but Pop and co. obviously can't be trusted to not overplay Forbes. As someone else has already written, he can be useful, also in the 4th quarter, in a team with other from very good to exceptionals defenders while on contrary he is gonna be a suicide squad by himself in a team with other non defending guys. That is simply because he has no defensive instincts, skills or energy to compensate his clear deficiency in terms of body measures. In Milwaukee, with the other 4 being good to very good (Holiday, Middleton, Giannis and probably Brook) he really has a chance to become positive and important... A la Reddick. In our team (with DDR, LMA, LYLES being only from weak to just decent defenders) he was clearly and simply unplayable. That was why I never understood the logical reason to prefer him to Bertans for 3 years in a row... They had the same skill but Bertans was 6.10 and with leaping ability... So at least he was playable on a team defense and in any case in any offense thanks to his chance to shoot from everywhere on the court (while Forbes Rande is absolutely more limited)...

I said this all season last year: it was a coaching move. There's more strategy involved than people here realize.

All Bryn was from the start was a placeholder for a better player to eventually take his spot and his purpose was to accelerate growth for players around him, I.E. DJ to get acclimated with having a shooter to pass too.

He served his purpose and we upgraded from him as natural as possible.

By now, we should know what the primary focus the Spurs organization is: player development. EVERYTHING stems from this. They are optimizing every aspect they can to make sure each player has an opportunity to grow naturally. They're like plants.

All Bryn was from the start was a placeholder for a better player to eventually take his spot and his purpose was to accelerate growth for players around him, I.E. DJ to get acclimated with having a shooter to pass too.

He served his purpose and we upgraded from him as natural as possible.

By now, we should know what the primary focus the Spurs organization is: player development. EVERYTHING stems from this. They are optimizing every aspect they can to make sure each player has an opportunity to grow naturally. They're like plants.

Totally agree you have a lot of posters against tanking saying “Oh No You Will Ruin Culture” or “We Can’t Jeopardize Our Playoff Record”. They play defense, and more importantly, they play DEFENSE, something that Bryn doesn’t do. It’s not Bryn’s size, mind you, because at least Patty takes charges, and rookie Tre has been pesky himself. Bryn just doesn’t have the lateral speed to keep up. He can knock down the 3’s but that’s the limit of his skills. I’m not a hater, just clarifying the difference that you boldly brought up. Great news for the Spurs. It's not Forbes' fault that he was hurting the team as much as he was but the only solution was for him to not be on the team anymore. He's useful in a smaller role but Pop and co. obviously can't be trusted to not overplay Forbes. Forbes is such a good teammate and such a good human being that the coaches can't stop themselves from playing him. Again, not Forbes' fault :lol

The Bucks are the perfect team for him. They have long, athletic defenders. He should be able to survive on that end of the court. On offense, he'll get plenty of clean looks. If Bud can hide Forbes defensively decently enough, I expect that he could have a pretty big season.
