View Full Version : How are you streaming the games this season (for locals & non-locals)?

As a non-local:

I had league pass last season, but hated having blackout games.

Will gladly pay the same amount ($120ish) for a better alternative if anyone knows any.

I've been living in Plano and still couldn't get Fox SW because they had obligations to show other teams closer to home. So I was locked out completely unless they were on a national TV outlet. I found anorther streaming service last year, but don't know if it will be up this year. I got the tip from someone via a private message. Maybe you can too, eh?

NBA League pass - India subscription (999 INR = 13.5 USD) with VPN (for Indian IP) only for login (switch off just after sign on). Works like a charm, even the renewal is done in Roupies.

I had AT&T TV Now last season and got it specifically because it carried FSSW. However, I got the Dallas regional signal. So instead of getting the Spurs games, I'd get the Mavs games. :pctoss

I live in Austin though so not sure if it would be the same in San Antonio (or anywhere else).

It's really lame because Austin is definitely Spurs country, but we don't get the local broadcast, yet NBA League Pass blacks out Spurs games because it thinks we are part of the local region. They've almost made it impossible to legally watch Spurs games outside of paying a major cable service.

That sucks, cuz Austin used to show quite a few games 20 years ago before FSSW came in and ruined everything. I lived by Canyon Lake and Austin's Fox channel came in better than SAs and they'd show Spurs games at least a couple days a week. The good ol days of watching Spurs games over broadcast tv.

These price hikes suck.

I kept ATT NOW for a couple years while I was on their intro price...and got a free AppleTV out of the deal.

But then it jumped up 10 bucks...then another 15. At that point, I was basically paying what I would for cable for less channels and a DVR system that didn't really work. And still no Spurs games unless it was on ESPN, TNT, or NBATV!

The problem I ran into last season was the feeds seem impossible to just open directly. You get into pop-up and re-direct hell and most of them want you to sign up for something before you can even tell if they're going to let you watch the game. I need a better stream than the ones I've been using or it almost becomes not worth the hassle of putting in a credit card.

I just thought I would add this note about League Pass. I got a notice about my renewal being charged on December 17th. When I logged into my account, it says that last year's plan runs through December 28th, which means I should still be able to watch the first few games on last year's subscription. Also, the monthly single team plan is $17.99/month and due to the shortened season, will likely be cheaper (in the very unlikely event they make it to the finals in July, it would end up being ~$6 more, but if they only play until May or June and then I cancel, it will be much less than the $120). So I cancelled my auto renewal with the intent to switch to a monthly plan in January. Today they sent me an email saying if I renew, I can get a discount, but they didn't give an amount (10% or less I will probably still do monthly). I hate the blackouts too, but I don't have other live TV right now -- and I have had luck using a VPN to get around the local blackouts (I'm not in SA, so only a few games/year), but I won't be able to watch the national broadcasts live (assuming some eventually get scheduled).

ETA - also just noticed that the preseason games are on League Pass, so I *should* be able to watch those on last year's plan too.

Mate, just buy International League Pass - log in through Kenya or Mexico or some shit - costs like $70US and you get every team, every game, archived etc. You only need the VPN for sign up, then you can just watch the games on your normal connection. Just an update over what I've been hearing rumors about... Hulu/YouTubeTV etc dropping FSSW and other Fox Regional Sports Networks was expected, and are highly unlikely to come back. Sinclair (who bought all the Fox Regionals) are planning on rolling out their own Streaming service (some say about $25/month) and trying to provide content that way. I would not be surprised if even cable companies will soon be dropping FSSW. Also, the Fox Sports Networks are preparing to be renamed to Bally's Sports soon as well.

Watching online streams has always been the superior way of watching games, tbh, at least internationally. More flexibility. Until the NBA is willing to put out a decent product, I'm not giving them a cent. Lots of good streaming sites on the web nowadays, too, which makes it an easy choice.

DofuSports, works flawlessly in 1080p. Also has its own app for your phone where it works flawlessly. Somehow they play the games on YouTube.

I’ve tried this on my PC using bluestacks. All I get is a blank screen.

I’m starting to lose hope that I’ll get any games this year. I’m in Corpus so we’re considered local with zero local coverage.

Yeah I’ve never tried it on the CPU only the app on my phone and it works perfectly. I live in San Diego so I have to use this or buy league pass. Try crackstreams I know that website works well.

Tried to put the app on my iPhone but looks like it’s just a score updater and the streams are dead. Maybe it’s better on Android.

Crackstreams looks promising. Didn’t prompt me to register and didn’t slam me with adware. I’ll check back tonight on their site and see how it goes.

I have League Pass but it's so terrible that I don't even use it anymore. Struggle to pause/fast-forward/rewind and get random jitters. I've given up and now use Hehe. It costs $100 for the season (I think $85 if you use this link (https://www.hehestreams.com/?ref=spurs)) but it's easily worth it. Better quality stream, easier to maneuver within games and works on all my devices. Easy to cut clips. Every game, no blackouts. It's my third season and there's been minimal downtime. It just works, tbh.

Obviously, it's operating in a grey area even though I still pay for League Pass but oh well. If the NBA's product wasn't so broken and didn't come with so many restrictions, I wouldn't have a need for it.

Thanks for that. I’ll look into it. I used crackstreams last night and it was jittery for the first few minutes and then stabilized. It worked okay but the quality of picture was a bit below fully rendered HD.

We need to petition the league to do away with blackouts.

There are three streaming options for FOX Sports Southwest. There is a wide difference in the monthly rates, so the choice may come down to your budget. You can watch the FOX Sports Southwest live stream on:

Dude, it's a amalgamation of incompetence, greed, and hackitude. Sinclair has evidently bought Fox Sports and is a cheerleader for hard right causes. ATT is among the worst and least responsive companies there is. There's nothing good about what the NBA allowed itself to get into with the accessibility of its product. It's going to be something that turns away customers. And of course League Pass is useless if you live in the San Antonio or Austin area because of blackouts.

And ATT is charging $80/month for the service to get FoxSports.

This shit is enough to make me hate the NBA for the first time in my life.

I refuse to give either of those companies my money.

For all the local guys on the forum, a great way to Atleast watch some of the games that are broadcasted on KENS5 or TheCW, you can just buy a cheap HD antenna from Amazon for like $25 and point it towards the Southeast side of San Antonio (direction Elmendorf). Game on Saturday is on KENS.

When you can't go to games because of the pandemic, it makes no sense for the NBA to still have home blackouts. I don't care about NBA policy. If I can find a streaming service that will let me see the games without going to a sports bar, I will use it. If that be piracy, make the most of it. If the NBA want's to limit piracy that is their option. Making more games available for everyone with advertising revenue might be their best option.

The agreement covers the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, LA Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs.

The service, which is expected (https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Daily/Weekend-Rap/2022/01/09/Sinclair.aspx?) to debut in the first half of the year, is likely to be fairly pricey at north of $20 per month, according to Sports Business Journal (https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/SB-Blogs/Breaking-News/2022/01/Sinclair.aspx). However, it should give fans a way to see their local teams if games aren't broadcast nationally or they can't watch Sinclair’s Bally Sports regional sports networks (RSNs). Those networks aren't available on YouTube TV (https://www.engadget.com/youtube-tv-loses-fox-regional-sports-channels-122539524.html) or Hulu (https://www.engadget.com/hulu-fox-regional-sports-networks-sinclair-165205449.html), for instance. Local games are typically blacked out in any case, including on NBA League Pass.
