he was at his best in 2013/2014 and 2016/2017 seasons, but you can't win with him as your best player and scrub teammates... at least not in the nba.
he thrives in that ginobili role, where he can dominate the 2nd units. super skilled and smart player, too bad that he missed the finals

Not a winner :lol He's carrying the Pelicans right now and he's the main reason their games are even competitive.

I'm appreciating Curry as a complete player more than ever. Guy is really good. Rest of his team is terrible. Why they traded for Wiggins is beyond me, plus Oubre. No one on the roster moves the needle in the right direction, although Wiseman looks like a nice pick.
It's amazing what the Spurs did with three #29 picks and the Warriors have no young players of note.
As for Milwaukee, who is their number 2 guy? Right now it's Middleton, but I don't think he's strong enough for that role.

Boston looks like they're moving backwards in the east. Losing Hayward without anything is a blow and they can't hang with the Nets. If they didn't have a mentally deficient GM, they would look for adding a significant piece. No, not Harden. You'd have to think they'd be happy to start Aldridge instead of Theis, but who knows with their front office.

zero playmaking and no inside presence, just walker, brown and tatum taking turns
D-Wade
12-25-2020, 07:22 PM
Yep there's no pecking order on this team. And while Brown might be a future perennial all star in the making, he's not better than Tatum, who isn't even sure if he's the best player on the squad sometimes. To me, the Cs as constructed missed their window.
Mr. Body
12-25-2020, 07:24 PM
Marcus Smart is actually a decent playmaker, at least sees the court well, but goddamn did he never learn how to shoot. The rest, like mentioned, Tatum doesn't seem like a guy who wants to be a star, and the other guys are just there. Nobody impacts the game a huge amount. Part of this is down to Brad Stevens, who has a soft, nonexistent offense. Again, a guy like Aldridge, even as old as he is, would at least create some gravity.
But they're nowhere. Ainge managed to fuck everything up by doing nothing.

They were as high on themselves as Kerr and the Warriors. We were beating down their door to trade Kawhi there and they weren't even willing to give up anything but Terry Rozier IIRC. The Raptors championship was theirs for the taking. Fuck the Celtics. Let them rot in purgatory like everyone else.
Just imagine if they had traded Kawhi, even by giving up Jaylen Brown and a pick:

Horford
Kawhi
Tatum
Smart
Irving
Baynes
Rozier

This Lakers team is one of the most unremarkable champions in recent history. I'd pick any winner over the last half decade to beat them soundly, even the Kawhi Raptors. They won a summer exhibition and that's it, but fortunately for them, the West is filled with flawed teams right now.

this, tbh. Every other Lakers championship team would absolutely wreck them. Imagine prime Gasol and Bynum taking turns against Davis, and LeBron going against Artest, then cramping up trying to guard Kobe. And that's not to even approach Shaq and uber athletic young Kobe. I would expect LeBron to start whining and the League to start pushing for the Lakers to win again. Lakers are the golden child, esp. now that the Warriors suck again. I still remember when Durant was completely out of bounds, right in front of a ref, and wasn't called for saving the ball. This is what the Lakers will get in their favor.
