Not a great look for the medical staff but it sounds like a coincidence. Then again, they didn't release much info about the initial surgery so it's difficult to tell if it's related.

My guess is White will be out two months. He might heal quicker than that but the Spurs and White can't exactly risk him injuring the same toe for a third time in less than six months.

And, yeah, I'm officially worried about his feet. How do you break that bone by landing wrong? Never heard of that, tbh. Add in all his other foot injuries and that contract extension suddenly doesn't look as hot :depressed

Also, didn’t he play in the second half? The fact that he did, even though he was injured in the 2Q, means the injury can’t be that serious.

Eubanks, Poetle, White following that Carroll signing last year. Worst batch of long-term signings in the last 20 odd years.

Dumb take.

Eubanks is on a NBA - minimum deal and is easily movable, Poeltl is off to a rough start, but he did the same last year and ended up having a solid season (unspectacular) and White needs to just remain healthy at this point. He isn't the first or the last Spur "made of glass" and a 6th man role (with "monitored" minutes) maybe his best beat.

The Carroll deal was a huge fuck up, but every organization (see Lakers signing Deng, Knicks signing Noah, etc.) is guilty of one of more of those.

If you actually paid attention to other teams and didn't stay here whining about just the Spurs' "misses," then you'd see that.

Nah, adrenaline is a hell of a drug. Players have been known to finish off games even with torn ACLs and other season-ending injuries.

Torn ACLs are tricky because they aren't really that painful but they take away all explosion and ability to pivot, which is pretty essential for basketball. Fractures range in severity. A fracture of the metatarsal wouldn't destabilize the foot, and it would just be a pain issue (although continued usage could result in worsening the fracture).

Many people can endure an unbelievable amount of pain, at least for a short while.

I was saying the other day that it's really strange/bad to injure your toes this much, as I've never heard of this happening much in all the time I've spent following basketball. I really wonder what kind of diet he's eating as he seems brittle. I wonder if it's a diet thing (very well could be a big contributing factor. For example, stuff like Dairy does not make your bones stronger like most people believe, and they could be under the assumption that they're doing things to help themselves out), or if he just simply has some sort of bad foot problems. Maybe it's just isolated to his feet, but since he's had a fractured wrist in the past, I am thinking it could be mostly dietary. If he consumed a lot of calcium/milk/dairy when he was growing up, that tends to leave you susceptible to more fractures from what I've read. I don't know. Could just be bad luck :(. I feel bad for the guy getting weird injuries like this.

This injury to his foot is not his first he has had chronic foot problems since day one with the Spurs hence my reservation of giving him big money. It is what it is I think the Spurs will be overly cautious as he just signed that big contract and we will be in a loosing streak no reason to rush him back.

Well behind every cloud there is a silver lining as I think we in line to definitely get a top 7 pick where we might have our pick of future starting Center, Power Forward, or Point Guard. And if the Spurs front office can work out a trade we might be able to get two starters out of this next draft class.

On another note I don’t think the NBA will be playing games in 8 weeks I think they will have to shut it down and then come back latter with a bubble playoff.

This. We are not going anywhere if we even make the playoffs. I am enjoying the season (well, not the Utah game) because it's win/win. We play well and scratch out a playoff seed, that means the young guys are developing, getting experience and it will be fun to watch. The team under performs, we have a shot at solid draft pick in a good draft. Then the offseason will be even more interesting then usual as Pop may retire, most of the vets will move on and hopefully COVID is under control and we get to see great summer league action.

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug. I sprained my ankle in flag football once. It was sore but I was able to walk it off, finish the game, then went to a festival (Eeyores Birthday) and spent the rest of the day walking around on it.

Once I finally got home and off my feet and the ankle cooled down...it swelled up and hurt like a bitch. Went to the doctor and they said it was a hairline fracture, was stuck in a boot for weeks.

sorry, guys to disappoint you. That's neither the adrenaline nor will power to play with a torn ACL and meniscus. It's strong tigh muscles that makes it possible. When there's no bruise it doesn't hurt. It's possible to play a few months with a torn ACL. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's possible.

Darn, multiple people mentioning this, but milk makes your bones weaker, not stronger (do some research). I hope the Spurs aren't getting him to drink Milk and/or giving him calcium. However, if he's drank a lot of milk/dairy while growing up, that is the very thing that could have made him susceptible to fractures. He also broke his wrist in his rookie season. This could all be coincidence and not dietary related. Hopefully it's the former.
