I thought this WAS his reputation around the league...

Wtf? Must have meant something else here. You don't stay in Kawhi's shape by not being a gym rat. He probably just means working out with the team.

More of a weasel than a rat, tbh.

Dude was late to every practice and canceled a bunch while postponing others for several hours. No shit he isn’t seen as a gym rat

Wow.

I guess he has changed a lot over the last few years.

In college and with the Spurs he was a gym rat. It was a bunch of stories about how he practiced in the dark with his lamp for light in his college gym and how much he worked on his game with the Spurs.

I wish the Spurs had handled the Kawhi situation the way the Rockets are handling the Harden situation--play the games out, wait for emotions on both sides to cool, and who knows? Maybe you end up reconsidering if things go well, like they are right now for Houston.

Except Harden is actually playing. But I agree I wish they had handled the situation better in some ways.

Um... The Spurs tried that shit for 11 months. That's why Leonard just sat out.

Lol nephew wasn't staying - no matter what.

Harden wants out.

Nephew wanted home to LA no matter what.

Harden is playing and not running and hiding in NY

Different situations.

Harden will probably still leave anyway

To clarify, this refers to the 2018 season, what would have been the last year of Kawhi's contract.

Yes, right after he ghosted the Spurs already for 11 months. Not sure why this isn't clicking in your brain. Are you a closet Kawhi fan?

I mean it seems more and more like the spurs kawhi was the fake kawhi and the clippers kawhi is the real kawhi

Pretty much. Kawhi didn't have any power in SA when he was first drafted. He was just a good role player and Manu-Duncan-Parker were the stars so he couldn't act out as much as he wanted. Obviously as he climbed the ranks that's when he started acting out such as the incident with his Uncle and the Spurs during the all-star game in NOLA 4 years ago.

He sure was hiding in that gym in New York like a rat.

Nephew stayed away and couldn’t see the court because “He was injured” how were the Spurs suppose to make him play? It was all part of the plan to end up in la. He got traded to Toronto won a title first year there and rolled to la right away. I believe the spurs did the right thing to move on from him asap. There is no loyalty in that coward.

Look at this weasel not wanting to shake hands after the game. Glad Keldon didn't look to shake his hands either. ALPHA

It's probably hard to still be a gym rat if you are constantly nursing a chronic quad issue.

Part of me wonders if him being such a "gym rat" early in his career is part of the reason his body has broken down so quickly.

He's now viewed as a diva. He's evolved.

It could be the reason. I remember Tim Grover who was Michael Jordan's trainer said that players can injure themselves if they overwork themselves and don't get adequate rest. I remember him saying one of the biggest differences between MJ and Kobe since he trained both was that MJ would listen to him when he told him to rest vs Kobe who wouldn't and it resulted in Kobe getting more injuries.

It’s also hard to be a gym rat when you live in SD and work in LA.

I always thought of nephew as a solo gym rat. Getting reps by himself during off hrs.
Not a social gym rat. Sorry, weasel.

I don't like the guy for ditching San Antonio and being a locker room diva but there's no doubt he's a GREAT player. I don't know what he does to prepare for games but its obviously working for him. He almost single-handedly beat the Spurs last night after spotting them a 24 point lead. Not that it means much since no-name players put up career numbers against the Spurs' porous defense but still....

Guess I'll put this here, even though I prefer all Number Two-related stuff to go in one thread.

Kind of relates to the Spurs because April 2017 was before he bitched out. I knew he was sitting out sometimes on a back-to-back but I didn't realize it was every time.

The bad boy piston fouls. When you foul you make sure it's 2 free throw and not a and-1.

If he did that to White, we would call for his head

Of course that is not something to do against a fellow baller. I am just saying that's what the pistons do when fouling they made sure there is no and 1. I am not cheering for Draymond.
