I don't see how they can't at this point tbh.
Not a good sign. The season just started 3 weeks ago.
What the hell is waiting a week or two going to fix? They will start back up again, and it will be the same song and dance in another month.

These dumbassess scheduled a 72 game season that starts in december with COVID, Fatigue, etc.
They even scheduled dumbass back to backs.
They should have cur the games to 50ish, spread the games for less exposure and more important reduce travel.
People will still get covid this way, but it significantly reduces the chances of fans watching Luke Kennard score 60 just because theres no players around

Teams are travelling like crazy in a very condensed schedule. They expected things to be fine. They needed to reduce the games to 50ish

This is what I thought was going to happen in the bubble. It appears the bubble really was necessary after all.
I doubt the paused games get made up. It was hard enough to cram in 72 games and try to end the season in late summer, I don't see room to make up the games unless the end of the season gets delayed.

All but two have to get made up or the NBA doesn't get paid in full on their TV deal.

As has been said in this thread, there's a lot less exposure for football players since they only have to play/travel once a week. Both the NFL and NCAA are finishing their seasons before this new variant spreads around too.
College football just played an entire season with ZERO serious hospitalizations or deaths from Covid..
Teams only played 7-12 games, and that was once a week. Cases still popped up all over.
The Spurs have already played more games in three weeks than half of the CFB players.

At this point in time, I would suggest the league continues and have a play in tournament that's much bigger.

I don't think any arenas have allowed fans in the stadium anyways.. So there's no ticket or concession sales for any teams... Might as well just do the bubble again. Less travel costs. How many courts does ESPN at Disney have? I know they only had about half the teams in the Bubble last year and didn't have the lowest ranked teams there, so would it cause issues if the entire league were to play there?

The bubble was all but 8 teams last year. They should bring it back but have teams bring their own floors so it still looks like you're watching a Lakers home game or a Spurs home game etc.
EDIT: maybe not on the teams own floors since there are only 3 arenas

If it keeps them from losing the season they'll do it, too much money at stake. The English strain could be a big monkey wrench into the league's original plans for the season.

These guys are spoiled to the core. Guys in the military have to go several months to even a year without seeing their families. Sure it will suck ass for six months not seeing your family but the NBA can give visitation rights to these guys families to visit them or even allow them to live with them in the bubble.

the players association would need to agree to it also, and given it took like 200M to get a couple months done you can probably more than triple that amount given the amount of teams. i just dont see it happening tbh. NBA would likely pause the season and vaccinate the players before entering another bubble. maybe for the playoffs but i dont see a regular season bubble happening for 60 games

It looks like their HP Field House could be configured to have four courts, same with their AdventHealth Arena. That's looking at an 8 court max for 8 concurrent games. Looking at the schedule, NBA's busiest nights have 11-12 games that day, could easily be doable at two arenas with multiple courts and they wouldn't have to have games all day long. Maybe time slots from 4PM with the last games ending at 12AM or so.

No I don't care about the military in this situation :lol you're the one that brought it up. What I'm telling you is that it's completely irrelevant to bring that up like you're making a point. Dudes in the military signed up for that. Comparing the top 1% of all ball players in the world who are all young millionaires to people in the military is dumb as hell. Its kinda too late now, tbh. The season NBAPA and the league agreed to no bubble. They're going to just have to make this work. The bubble worked but it isn't realistic with 30 teams and over 1000 total games being played in Disney over at least 5 months.

A big problem for the NBA is the poor vaccine rollout. With people getting vaccinated, the number of cases would gradually decline but at this current rate its going to take months for that to really happen. The NBA is trying to operate during a time when cases are exploding, this was always going to be the likely outcome given the situation.

If there's a silver lining to this, it'll lessen the number of games until White is back. When Lonnie went out against the Timberwolves, we literally had no half court shot creation. I think KJ is going to be an all star, but at the moment he's just shoot the open 3 or bulldoze his way to the rim after closeouts.

But Money talks and Bullshit walks I have no sympathy for them they reap what they sow. It’s just shows you they don’t give a shit about anyone it has always been about the money see “China” the crappy things is that they will probably get two new teams added to help them financially which is going to make the league play even worse.
