View Full Version : Bucks: Is Greek Freak going to regret his contract?

Such a low IQ team in big games.

I don't see a Championship anytime soon, if at all.

I don't think he is of the same ilk as modern day players that pout until they are traded -and get their way.

But.....couple more years of this is he gonna want a Championship or be satisfied with mega millions and All Pro teams?

He stayed in Milwaukee? Yea, he'll be punished on the NBA screwing over small market teams alone.

2000. Milwaukee would've beat Philly in five in a fair series.

Hard to regret that much money when you can just pull a bitch move and demand a trade. Shit Harden got his ass traded in one day and he's still making his 43 million a year

It's the new new NBA. The Greek Freak will most likely go the same way as Leonard and Harden unfortunately.

Ring chasing is f'ing stupid. Take the money unless you're a Ginobili and actually play for the love of the game.

I mean sure there are aspects he can work on.
But put Durbetta, Stephina, Chrissy Paul, Load Management, Booker and any other *top* NBA player on this Bucks squad and see if they do any better.

I think Bud needs some blame tbh. Giannis' reputation took a hit the last couple years. Giannis might not ever be a 3 point threat/jump shooting threat. It's not his game. He is the most imposing post player in the NBA right now, quit trying to make him shoot jump shots. He needs to be surrounded by shooters at all times. The defense should have to choose, guard the three ball, or double Giannis in the paint. It should be poison for opposing defenses, a nightmare!
I liken the criticism of Giannis to someone saying Kevin Durant cant play in the post and rebound as a traditional big, it makes no sense. Use a player to their strengths and build the team around the superstar.
That being said Giannis needs to be able to hit in the mid 60's from the charity stripe. No one disagrees there.

I think there's an understanding that with two years on a contract, a star player can say "I want out", and the team is to accommodate him.
The league ain't doing nothing to quell that practice either.

Understatement.
He really sucked last night and most disturbing was several complete lack of hustle plays.

But ya when he is on he is good.
Nothing a #2 or even #3 shoud be. It's almost like he should be in a 6th man role on a legit contender.

Why would he regret getting paid supermax? Leonard, George, Davis, and Harden have already shown contracts only bind the team, not the player. If he wants out he can just start acting like a faggot and force his way to LA or Brooklyn or Miami just like George, Davis, Harden pulled off.

Back to back MVP's and a DPOY award. I think he's already well on his way to cementing himself as a generational talent.
I don't recall Shaq being told to stretch the court. Or Hakeem for that matter. Giannis can't be stopped in the paint and that's where he should be.

Giannis is another casualty of people not understanding individual brilliance vs. team success. Just like what happened to Hakeem (before 94 and 95), Robinson, Stockton, Barkley, and Lebron (before Miami).

They didn't play in an era where shooting mattered this much. Unfortunately being able to take and make a high volume of 3 point shots is a must for this day and age. He'll continue to put up gaudy numbers but will never win a championship as a #1 option.

Giannis doesn't seem to have a regretful type of personality. I'm guessing he'll be good with his decision. I'll still always wonder what would've happened if he'd joined Doncic in Dallas to form a Euro Super Team... probably would've been pretty amazing.

This thread shows how impossible it is to please all fans. If he joins another superstar, he would've gotten criticized for it. He stays with Milwaukee, and people say he's dumb, never going to win a chip, etc... some critics are just never happy.

I said "he helped deliver" 2 Chips. He did.
Compare that to who you mentioned George, Davis and Harden and they didn't deliver any Chips.

He didn't quit in 2017 he got one of the all time cheap shots by Zaza. Was MVP leading the Spurs to a potential 6th.

Just like I said not too long ago unfortunately. He's no different than the other douchebag superstars that want to go to LA, Miami, Golden State, etc. He wants so bad to be accepted by the mainstream, and since ESPN and the like brainwash the hell out of the general NBA fanbase that it's one of the big markets or bust, he now wants out.

Plus he wants an easier path to get rings instead of the hard way in Milwaukee since the big markets get all the calls, for the most part of course. Notice how this problem doesn't really exist in the NFL, College, MLB etc. That's because ESPN and the like don't really ignore the small market teams in those leagues and therefore doesn't brainwash the dummies into believing it's not cool to play for a small market.

Big stars go to smaller markets all the time in those aforementioned leagues, but all of a sudden in the NBA, it's a problem. Again, if you pay attention closely, the media (ESPN and the like) decide this.

Increasingly Americanized in all the worst ways since winning the championship, he's trying to get out ahead of/win the looming PR battle because he realizes the Bucks are probably not good enough now and are tapped out as far as assets/upside.

No chance he'd come to a small media/non glamor market like the Spurs and as he ages play second fiddle to a big who could become better than him since that wouldn't help his precious "legacy".

The Thunder are the best fit. They can offer Giddey, Williams or Wallace, quantity and quality draft capital and financial flexibility, plus they're out of conference, have a superstar who can be the primary initiator, a floor spacing rim protector and wing defenders.

This. I mean come on, he’s given one of the most anonymous and negligible sports franchises of the last half century 10 good years, a chip, 2 MVPs, and more than they could ever hope for. He’s also one of the few athletes left who gives full effort every second he’s on the court.

The man has paid his dues and done Milwaukee right. He has nothing left to prove individually so I admire that he’s prioritizing winning and competing

The Super-conferences in college sports have really created a divide that I'd say is far more pronounced than anything you see in the NBA. Any fan of a mid-major school can tell you it sucks to be the indentured servants to the power conference leagues. You'll never see a team from a conference like the WAC win a national title again the way BYU did in 1984. Money drives college sports, too, and those big TV contracts impact everything at the college level. It's all about the dollar, and some get rich while most get poor.

It primarily WAS Black kids (Whites to a lesser extent numerically as well as quality of talent (zenith to passable) being indentured for a number of years (1-4) by White men. How it was able to exist to such an extent is an abomination. And quite frankly it was (the Black) who got it turned about to the station we're entering at this time in history. How these kids were kept in "chains" while strange men were making trillions on them is blot upon the land. Can you imagine a 16-year-old brilliant prodigy walking out of high school and say IBM tells him..."Sure, c'mon, work for us, but only for goody bags and free lunches, till you're 18 years old. Let's go! Hurry up." (we don't want to waste 1 second during the next 2 years while we glean every free dime from this kid, do we, boss?)

Same in college sports; A kid laboring for 4 years (his prime's prime) for nothing but free exciting plane trips (via coach) and the attendant goody bags and a neat motel/hotel room (coming and going).
