and....guess who is the head of our front office?
Imagine still not knowing in 2021 that Poop controls this organization with an iron fist, and that everyone else are just glorified secretaries. :lol

White not looking so hot. I know there is a rust factor, but...damn.
I'll give him a few weeks to a month. He's one of those players that seemingly takes a while to get going during the season.

And that is mostly Poop's fault. He is the puppet master pulling every string.
No doubt Pop has a big say but he doesn't give shit, he hasn't since TD retired. I guarantee in the offseason he vacationing living his life

You would think the Spurs' record was 4-14 with this kind of statement
I meant by the officials. Spurs are routinely getting pummeled at the rim with the refs swallowing their whistles while getting called for breathing on the other end. Been this way since 2014 but now they don't have the BBIQ to overcome it.

Pop has been done since the summer of ‘17. His ego and not having anything to live for after his wife’s death is why he will continue to coach until he dies. Pop is holding back the team from going forward much like Kobe did with the Lakers from ‘13-‘16.
Y'all are crazy overreactionary, man.

That’s exactly what it is. They’ve appointed the best player on the team and don’t wanna eat the shit sandwich they made so they’ll shift the blame elsewhere.
Some guy last game quoted me after I called out White falling asleep and giving Bane (50% 3pt shooter) two open threes, and suggested Pop might have told him to do that since he’s a rookie :lol
Folks need to watch him on defense and notice how he’s lost sight of his guy every single time due to over helping.
Back in the Nuggets 1st round series when he choked the last couple games until Pop had enough and benched his ass in favor of more minutes for fucking Forbes, people were blaming Pop for not letting him play his way out of his funk. It was a game 7 and he was playing scared like a little bitch. He earned that benching but no one wanted to blame him. Now, they're saying he just needs a month. I mean, I want the dude to succeed but he really hasn't earned the bulletproof defense of him.

I'm not shitting on Pop like others because we're still reeling from Kawhi destroying this team with his shitty behavior. Still, I really don't see the value in not tanking this season. Tired of the past few 1st round exits. This team needs a superstar desperately and won't get one via another first round exit.

The team is so evenly distributed they barely could tank if they wanted to, unless they started Tre Jones and Luka. But to push this idea further, fans here would likely disagree on who to play more if they actually wanted to tank. This team will get the record it is going to get. Might as well try to enjoy it.
I’d love to get a high lottery pick but that path isn’t as clear cut as people think.

I want a lottery pick (preferably top 10) to really rejuvenate this team and fanbase. I like all our young guys, but it is clear as day they need a superstar talent to really get anywhere.
That's why all the picking sides (DeJounte vs. Derrick vs. Lonnie) has made little sense to me.
I do agree with the trolls that Pop is falling right back into his old calls of pre - NBA Bubble; DeRozan iso'ing and taking (terrible) contested mid range shots.
All the insults and hyperbole is when I gotta comeback to Earth and realize this team ain't win shit before Timmy & Pop arrived. Gotta give him the courtesy, respect he has earned and deserves whether he's "ruining" (he isn't) the team or not.

Pop is overrated he benefited from having a top 5 all time great in Tim Duncan. Duncan was the ultimate cheat code for him in which he could get away with stupid line ups on both ends of the court. Steve Kerr is also overrated. My drunk uncle could have coached those Warriors teams while drinking a beer on the bench. The NBA is the one league where coaches for the most part don't make a big difference. I have seen Phil Jackson,Riley, and now Pop all look like garbage during their coaching careers when they didn't have a stacked team.
Now that Pop doesn't have Tim Duncan to clean up his garbage he's getting exposed. Tim wasn't here tonight to bail the Spurs out when it came to Pop's stupid defensive strategy of leaving 3 pointer shooters open. Back in the old days Spurs would have barely won this game with Duncan and Pop would have been lauded a genius.

This tesm has been terrible closingin on 3’s. The scrub bench showed better scrambling to 3’s. Mavs also buried them on 3’s.
also no continues movement. Lonnie would sprint down, just to stop and pass the ball. And we he attacks, freaking missed the layup. Same with everybody, fake, pass, reset.
They have to attack the rim from the get go, and set the tone of gritty basketball.

Agreed. Pop ain't perfect and has made and been making mistakes but he's still a GOAT coach. I don't care how long it's been since it's happened but Kawhi really fucked this franchise good and we haven't recovered from it. That's the main reason we're in our current state.

Wow, what an astute observation. You need a superstar or superstars to win in the NBA.
I think everyone and their momma is aware of that point, buddy. Our issue is that we lost our superstar for a far inferior player (package) and have yet to recover.
They've practically overachieved with a bunch of middling draft picks and flawed veterans but now the ship be sinking. I'm hoping they remain competitive, end up in the lottery (again) and luck into a Cade Cunningham or Evan Mobley (while signing a John Collins - tier FA).
That would instantly change the team's fortune and shut all the ST trolls/crybabies/bitches up.

realistically, he isn't a complete scrub. but he might as well be. dude got benched for an entire 4th quarter in a closeout game iirc.
sixth man of year at best TBH. but even then, you want a sixth man that is reliable...

Yes lets sign another big man that can't play defense. Collins is a crappy defensive player.

I agree that he isn't a star, but a player like DeRozan needs to be put in a better position to succeed. Won't change until Don Pop is out. Hope he makes me eat my words, but I doubt it.
He needs to be on a title contender with 1 or 2 better options/stars. Him being "the man" hasn't done anything for his game or reputation.
If anything it has reinforced that he can't be a no. 1 option on a contending team or even a playoff contending team, anymore.

Unacceptable performance in that game, I agree.

So much wrong with your post, man.
I guess Mark Jackson would have eventually figured it out then.
Coaching isn't as important as in the NFL, MLB or NHL, but it definitely makes a difference at some level.
Pop has his flaws and has made tons of mistakes throughout his coaching career, but he also got this mediocre (prior to his arrival) franchise over the hump.
It make no sense how Spur fans can say Pop was "overrated" and "anyone could have done that" when the guy prior to him (Bob Hill) wasted so many years of David Robinson's prime. I know, I know, you'll say it was the teammates and front - office that blow those chances.
I'd argue that the mediocre coaching of Hill (and his predecessors) played a huge part in all those playoff disappointments & David's reputation as a "playoff choker."

You just can't put out a good team with the worst defensive center in the league. Blame the coach or the other players all you want.

I'm aware that he's a poor defender, but the hope is with better defensive teammates (Trae Young is a horrible defender), a better defensive system (assuming either Pop retires or institutes a better defensive strategy) & some holding him accountable he improve.
He is a much better version of the missed out on "God" Brandon Clarke & could flourish in a better coached (in theory) environment.
Also, I said a John Collins - tier player meaning someome at his level (good production, youth & athleticism) where a change of scenery could lead to them taking a bigger leap.

Didn’t watch the game so I can’t comment about the game but this team is always going to be one step forward, two steps back kind of team until a lot of the overpaid washed up dudes are gone and the team finds its identity on defense. The treadmill is going nowhere.
You didn’t missed much.
Pop went away from Bubble aggression, letting the young core wreck havoc. They should attack the rim from the get go, Lonnie had to be pulled because he was deferring. Ball stops at Derozan. He used to facilitate, no movements, people watching an iso play. Terrible ugly offense.

I’m really wishing we could’ve landed Christian Wood. Rockets have the best defense in the league (post harden era) when he’s on the court. According to the local sports guy here anyway. But man he is looking like a beast. I would trade them Lonnie or Derrick White for him.

:lol gonna hold on to DeRozan, Aldridge, and Mills at the deadline to chase a first round sweep, miss out, and lose em for free in 6 months
That sounds about right.

Pop stupidly has it in his head to bring White off the bench in a Manu role IMO, and I believe it's the wrong one. This isn't the same Spurs team where you have TD and TP starting enabling you the luxury to bring Manu off the bench. I think White needs to start as the Spurs' best play last season with White was in the bubble and with him starting. The fact that he's still trying to fit a square peg in a round hole is just crazy. There's certain ideas that he just doesn't want to go away from.

Agreed, Derrick needs to be starting once he’s fit

And of course, the Pacers are butt-fucking the Grizzlies right now lol.

Not surprised the Grizzlies are a poor offensive team. Even a marginal defensive effort shuts that offense down. Pacers have superior interior defense compared to the Spurs though. Spurs front court is a complete dumpster fire.
Pacers coach tough too. The grizzlies started that grabbing, holding, fouling defense and the coach ran out on the court and took a tech and shut that shit down.

Grizz will lose their next game if they're still down this many guys tbh. Spurs just have a fatal flaw in their defense with LMA on top of poor defensive schemes by their coach.
Shit, not only did they lose they got assfucked.
:lol Spurs
