How does sending money directly to them prevents them from buying booze, smokes, etc? It's silly. At least with TANF you have to buy children supplies (which, granted, they could turn around and sell at a loss).

Probably. Hell I got family who are cops. I don't know if you think I lean one way or another, but police reform isn't a bad thing. But that should be done on a state level, not a national level. Hell I would prefer local, but who knows with that. If you want to argue their should be some reform on SNAP then I can agree on that (but honestly I can't get it so it works to that degree where you have to make a certain amount).

But honestly the whole damn budget needs to be redone. And I just find it laughable when people say well they should cut welfare or my taxes shouldn't pay for this when we know damn well barely any of our taxes go to welfare. Most goes elsewhere. Agree it's not a rich or poor problem. But quite frankly it's not a governmental problem either. It's a human nature problem. There's abuse and corruption from state to local levels all the way down to a boy scout troop or the church fundraising organizers, let alone on a federal level where funds and resources impact tens of millions of people or more.

There's no oversight imagineable that can 100% absolutely prevent the corruptible nature of the greed of man.
