Shit and this cold front was supposed to be the not so bad one, with the big one coming Monday, but we have been stuck in the 30s all day. I can't ever recall hitting 10 degrees here like we're forecast for Tuesday morning. I remember when we hit 18 a few years ago and there were fucking rolling blackouts. Especially weird because this has been such a warm winter and we were in the high 70s / low 80s a couple of days ago.

Houses are not as well insulated and plumbing is not built for this. I mean I have water pipes in my garage? Who does this in south dakota unless they have a way of heating them... Me too except I will now have to pack up and move elsewhere for a bit, after this weather clears up, in order for my HOA/INS to fix my ceiling. My neighbor's fire sprinklers, up stairs, busted and created about 5 leaks in my ceiling. Probably have to replace pretty big sections of the sheetrock up top. I'm not so materialistic so all I had to move were my electronic lab equipment out of here for now.

Things could be worse though and it's sad to think of those who aren't as fortunate to have heat, electricity, water, and food right now. God help them especially those on the streets.

Saturday is going to be our first chance to have steady power this week, though if the grid couldn't handle our 40 degree day today not sure it'll handle our 45 degree day Saturday. Used to fucking hate Coserv because they don't give you the power to choose, but their fixed rate plans are far better than the variable rate plans offered by some companies associated with the Oncor/Texas New Mexico networks these days like Reliant and Griddy that charged $9K per megawatt hour as opposed to the usual $50 between the 14th and 17th... so some people are going to get hit with four-figure electric bills for the month of Feb.
