I get it, now. All the smart posters left after '14 (and all the annoying trolling started) leaving behind some of the stupidest members in this fanbase here.
Now, they parrot each other's stupid, childish takes not providing anything insightful or smart.
"Brandon Clarke is da savior, Poeltl is a scrub, this team is better without White" is just some examples of TheGreatIdiot's stupid takes.

I can't count how many times it looked like he had a season ending injury. Maybe he is justified in avoiding physical contact. Dude seems to have problems landing on his feet.

Yeah, I was just thinking that that smothering defense in the 4th might not have been possible with Lonnie on the court... Hopefully he steps it up on defense, because we need that intensity every single 4th quarter (and the other 3, if at all possible)...

Grinding comeback. Spurs looked gone, going into the second half. Got stops, didnt rely on the three to score on the other end.
Yak is a fucking beast. Elite rim protector and gives the team so many extra possessions with his offensive rebounds/tap outs.
J_Paco
03-17-2021, 09:29 PM
Great W and hopefully they can get another one against Cleveland.
Can't come out that flat and dig that huge of a hole so damn often.
Hopefully, the team will have DeMar back at least around the Milwaukee game since I think Cleveland is winnable without him.
PhantomDashCam
03-17-2021, 09:29 PM
True team win.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, this team is rarely going down without a fight.
Keldon - understated gritty performance. That looked like a pretty significant ankle roll. Wouldn’t be surprised if he misses a game or two after this one. What a great teammate.
Jakob may be leading the league in dunks by season’s end if he continues at this rate. Got beaten on a few one on ones but this game isn’t even a contest without his effort and solid play on both ends for a full 48 mins. :tu

Before tonight they were middling, I doubt it changes all that much. Maybe a spot or two.
Edit: due to garbage time, imo 4th quarter scoring margin is probably the least informative of any quarter.

I'll summon my guy Dejounte just to make sure I'm looking at the right thing;
But per this stats page, https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/traditional/?sort=W_PCT&dir=-1&Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&Period=4, the Spurs are 10th in the league in win% of the 4th Q. I don't remember whether this was the criteria used in the tweet/stat that I'm remembering (it had them #12 then, IIRC), but if it is, looks like they're up two spots.
And yeah, garbage time makes the stat not really meaningful for deep analysis, but it's still good at a glance to give an impression of a team: an unclutch team is likely to be pretty far down 4th quarter stat lists, and vice-versa. It's no wonder a team like Portland is ahead of us, for example. And for the argument being made (Padre claiming Spurs were the worst 4th Q team in the league), it's good enough, tbh.
GAustex

Sorry, bro. I'm lost here. What are you trying to do?
I see that you added the filter for the 4th quarter and then sorted by win %. In that case, applying the filter doesn't affect anything. It's going by the current season records still.
Are you trying to see which teams outscored the other team in the fourth?

Spurs net rating in the 4th only = 2.8. Placing them 10th in the league.
Spurs net rating for the whole game = 0.2. Placing them 13th in the league.
https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/advanced/?sort=NET_RATING&dir=-1&Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&Period=4
Spurs +/- in the 4th only = 0.6. Placing them 10th in the league.
Spurs +/- for the whole game = 0.0. Placing them 15th in the league.
https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/traditional/?sort=PLUS_MINUS&dir=-1&Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&Period=4
These numbers would be a lot better without the deep bench fucking everything up.

Smanic or Vassell should start.

Watching the young ones finding their way is a fun
they are about 3 young tall PFs/small centers away from being potentially something good

Spurs net rating in the 4th only = 2.8. Placing them 10th in the league.
Spurs net rating for the whole game = 0.2. Placing them 13th in the league.

Spurs +/- in the 4th only = 0.6. Placing them 10th in the league.
Spurs +/- for the whole game = 0.0. Placing them 15th in the league.

Actually Spurs have the 5th best bench in scoring. It’s the 1st and 3rd quarters with the starters slow start that gets them in the hole.

I'll summon my guy Dejounte (https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=51342) just to make sure I'm looking at the right thing;
The Spurs are now 10th in 4th quarter margin at +0.6, and this post I made 4 days ago shows that the Spurs were 13th at +0.4 at the time. The 4th quarters since then have gone -2 (PHI), -10 (DET), +20 (CHI). That +8, spread over the 37 games the Spurs have played this season, accounts for the rise of 0.2.
For reference, the Spurs are 25th in 1st quarter scoring margin per game (-2.5), 1st in the 2nd quarter (+4.2), 25th in the 3rd quarter (-1.4), and 13th in the 4th quarter (+0.4).
So I was about right, tonight's 4th quarter, worth almost +0.5 by itself, accounts for the change. It's more than I thought: if the Spurs had gone even in the 4th tonight they would have been around 14th or 15th in average 4th quarter margin.

Deep bench. Not the regular bench.

White and DJM were huge clutch at the end.
White haters done crawled back in their corner.
DDR can just stay away. Its more fun not watching his stink foul things up
Agreed...games like this teach our young guys how to win...I can't see us relying on predictable DeMar ball to make a come from behind gritty win in the 4th vs any competent team...once our young guys learn how to win close tough games and have that confidence, we will start to look better

Thanks, D, this is exactly what I was looking for. Confirms what I thought, they're a few places up. Nice to see, and yeah, that Weatherspoon-led collapse still haunts me :lol

Gotta figure a way to use LMA and DDR salaries for better fitting pieces before they can hope to challenge.
It could happen but re-upping DDR or not making the right moves at this moment could make a world of difference and make or break the path forward

I feel like Patty is doing everything as humanly possible to be the absolute face of the franchise not only on the court but off as well.

You should watch the game still! You can get it on a page like https://nbafullhd . com/ . I guarantee the first 2-3 quarters will be easier to stomach, knowing the final outcome, than they were to watch live :lol
