I think he did a pretty good job coaching the Spurs. Condolences to friends and family.

Stan was legit. Coached in the days when the players smoked in the locker room :bobo

Second best Spurs coach ever. When I lived in SA I went to plenty of those run and gun games. RIP.

It got loud in the convention center arena. Coach Albeck, Ice, A-Train, Mitch and the hope of one day winning it all. It never happened with that team but still fun times and great memories.

He was a little before my time but man the bums loved Stan. Why did he leave the Spurs? Seems like they went from WCF and one shot away from forcing a Game 7 to the Lakers to being a bubble lottery/playoff team overnight.

If I remember correctly, there was a contract squabble and the Spurs traded him to the Nets for a second round pick. The Spurs were an old team and went .500 the next year. All I can say is that it is good thing this generation of fans weren’t around back then.
