Been playing well for the Austin Spurs. Audition for that open roster spot I suppose.

Eh, not bad. Not an exciting prospect but he's advanced enough to buy a few minutes here and there. Haven't seen enough good from him to give more than a 10-day contract to, though.

Great another sg

He's a swingman not purely a SG like Lonnie, DeJounte (body type), Derrick (body type) or Keldon (body type).

He'll be able to soak up some back up 2 or 3 minutes while we wait for Lonnie to get healthy. I'm hoping that they try to find a combo forward of some sort.

The dude is 6'7" (w/o shoes) and 225 lbs. He's close to the size of Rudy Gay and bigger than all our current guards (even Devin Vassell).

I'm just not sure who is available that would be worth a look at.

Needed wing depth if Rudy is going to be a center from now on.

Watched him a lot. Gets tunnel visioned when he has the ball. Pure scorer. So confident that he'll shoot from anywhere. Who was the guy who liked this guy in the Austin Spurs thread? BackHome mo7888

If this was the plan all along, who cares what they did with that trade with Golden State?

Dejounte

We basically get a guy who already knows the playbook. If he exceeds expectations, he's probably a lock for our two way contract next year. He could very well spell Lonnie when he's off or being too passive. Shooting is our problem. Cam solves that if he gets minutes. Guy does not hesitate at all.

He's more like 6'8" in shoes then? I'm reading he can truly guard all of the 2/3/4 with his slightly above average wingspan.

Don't expect lockdown defense but he does sometimes poke the ball free with his length and gets some anticipation steals from passing lanes.

As long as it means less minutes for Lyles, I don't care if the Spurs bring back Mengke Bateer.

I thought he might be a 10 day while Diop recovered from his hamstring pull. Recall he was a training camp invite earlier along with Diop and the Spurs chose Diop over him and signed him down with the G-League team. Makes sense to me although we really need a center to back up Jak.

I guess your boy Renfro didn’t make it :lol I like Reynolds actually better with scoring which we need, spacing and all. If we could morph his offense with Renfro’s defense, we could have a decent NBA 2way wing :lol

Nah he was signed and waived for specially to play at Austin. I actually like this guy. I think 6’7 with 7’2 wingspan? And his stroke is sweet. Pretty smooth offensive scorer. Reminds me of Willie Anderson :lolbut shorter.

Being shorter than Willie might allow him to shoot the three without the toe on the line. Willie was the king of the tie on the line.

Yeah, hopefully he works hard to develop his shot. Love his defense, I think Luka took notes :)

Nah this kid is taller and more athletic than Willie. I meant Willie was shorter :lol. I remember when everybody’s name was -son, Cadillac, Willie, Greg, then the following year, Robinson :lol

I am on the Nate Train. Lol. But I agree with you Dejounte in regards to Reynolds it is a good signing/tryout he is not super athletic our bouncy but he is real smooth and he definitely can put some points on the board something we are severely lacking. I watched most of the games at it was plainly clear that Luka, Reynolds, and Woodard, where on another level then the other players.

He will I think battle it with Diop which is a good thing we need more competition for certain positions he does give you kinda instant offense which we have clearly been lacking.

And for the record I am still on the Nate Renfo bandwagon I never thought he would make the team this year I just want him to hopefully get a 2 way. Yeah that going to be tough as far as his defensive score is an 8 but his offensive other then his assist is a 3. But he is coming off a serious injury so I still have faith. Plus the kid just has that Spurs character that I admire.

It sucks because Diop showed us that he's pretty good when the games counted. I really want to keep him on board past this season, if possible.

Nice reward for someone who competed hard and bought into the Austin system. Kinda sounds like the Spurs we are familiar with not the Geico sponsored ones.

From a recent interview post G league:

Reynolds signed a non-guaranteed Exhibit-10 deal with the Spurs ahead of the 2020-21 NBA regular-season.
Now with the G League season over, he is uncertain if he'll next be wearing a San Antonio uniform.
"I'm just playing it by ear right now," Reynolds said. "I would love to but we're just playing it by ear right now. We will see."

NBA teams may have no more than six players with Exhibit 10 attachments in their contracts on their roster at any given time and these contracts may not be extended or renegotiated.

I have a friend who was jokingly complaining about his neighbors, who he said did odd things with their yard and house, things that just made him shake his head. The latest thing they'd done was paint their house. Here's how he explained it: Imagine if you could break down the color beige into ten different shades. Well, they just spent the last three days repainting their Beige #4 house, and now it's a Beige #7 house.

That's kinda what this trade deadline and post deadline action has been like for the Spurs.

I like him as an oversized point guard or facilitator off the bench

Rudy doesnt pass once he gets the ball- Patty is much the same sometimes. Tre probably isn’t ready for extended minutes and Lonnie is hurt. Doubt he gets enough burn to stick past 3 or so games but he is a nice scorer who just played solid all around basketball for Austin.

Not sure where you’re getting that. Renfro, with no consistent jumper, is a better distributor. Yes, I did watch every telecast game from the Gubble. His best NBA skill is catch and shoot 3s.

Capable ball handler, was tasked with initiating offense with Austin in Luka and Tre’s absence.

assist numbers weren’t there but he can break down a defense and threaten the basket from all 3 levels. He at least showed an ability to move the ball somewhat. It’s a low bar to clear when you have Rudy gay as your comparison.

So, he can handle the ball some, but didn’t even generate assists in the gleague, and you see him as an NBA creator? Mmmmkay.

Here’s what’s really going to happen. IF HE GETS ON THE FLOOR, he will be parked somewhere on the arc, and told to shoot when open.

I don’t think he’s going to do shit aside from sit on the bench or play garbage time to be perfectly honest

I watched him just like you. He can dribble the ball and initiate offense. That’s all I’m looking at here. Don’t read too much into it.

Bruh what you're describing is a Bryn Forbes. Cam can actually dribble inside the arc and pull up for a shot. I disagree with Prime about him being a facilitator though...dude has no vision.

Which you expect for a 15th guy, catch and shoot, play hard defense, and never more than that if necessary. Bowen did very good with doing he’s best with. Which is what these young players need to do to get a chance. If Reynolds shoot the 3’s consistently, play hard defense, rebound the ball, he would be a rotation player for this team.

I actually like this guy. He has range and athleticism, can dribble and score. He has a lot of skills and the athleticism to become a solid role player. I said he reminds me of Willie, not just features, but both are smooth scorer. Reynolds has sweet jumpers.
