Rudy and Patty playing way too much. needed more defense when they put in Trae. And they needed to attack Trey on the other side. hindsight I suppose.

04-01-2021, 10:18 PM
I think I am done watching these clowns with clown coaching. Maybe when Dieng and Lonnie comes back I'll try again.
These fucking vets and their great chucking and ISO plays. That's the way to win games.
Can't this retarded coach draw up plays to get White open threes when he's hot like tonight?
Most overrated coach in NBA history IMO. Thank Tim Duncan every fucking day of the week for his false stature.

Trae Young has had 5 fouls since the 4th. Is Dejounte that shitty of an offensive player that he can't attack one of the worst defensive players in the nba?

Manu and TP say hi, tbh.
Look, those guys were huge and helped, but how good would the team be if you took off TD and just had Manu and TP?
TD was taking scrubs to the playoffs before they arrived and battling Shaq and Kobe by himself almost. I doubt TP and Manu could have done the same. As great and Manu and TP were, they weren't the magnitude of TD. Manu was closer than TP to TD, but neither were the magnitude of prime TD IMO. I shouldn't disrespect Manu like that as I loved him just as much as TD, but I don't think he could have taken the Spurs as far as TD did with lesser players before he himself arrived.

Either the coaching is terrible on this team or our guys have some of the lowest bball IQs in the nba where they can't even execute a simple switch. Probably both. Its always the same shit every time on offense. Spurs are the easiest team in the league to game plan against. Pop's a fraud who built his reputation on the backs of HOF talent and smart assistants.

True but it necessitates The Big 3 for TD to get those rings after '99. But yeah, we'd have 6 rings and have won the elusive back to back if Pop didn't take out TD in Game 6, after Leonard's punk bitch ass fucking choked at the free throw line.

Eh Atlanta made mistakes and missed shots too. I think the Spurs played well. It’s a game of who makes less mistakes, but Atlanta had lead at end of reg and OT and made mistakes that allowed Spurs to extend game.

I feel bad for Demar though. Imagine if he had actual teammates instead of scrubs like Patty, Jak, KJ, and Murray. If we ever truly built around Demar we would be a top team in the league.

True but it necessitates The Big 3 for TD to get those rings after '99. But yeah, we'd have 6 rings and have won the elusive back to back if Pop didn't take out TD in Game 6, after Leonard's punk bitch ass fucking choked at the free throw line.
I felt bad typing that as I loved Manu just as much as TD - 100% just as much. Manu was easily pretty much my favourite player along with TD (the only time I was ever really down on Manu a little bit was the 2013 NBA finals game 6 and 7). He was an amazing player. I actually would have liked to have seen him go to another team to win another ring or two as he was still great after TD retired IMO. He could have put nearly any Championship contender team over the hump that needed just one more piece to win the ring. I just feel the big three was built off of TD and then Manu and then TP. Manu was closer to TD than TP IMO. I feel like I am disrespecting Manu and TP by saying all this, but all I have to go off of is how TD played and carried the team, and where he took them before either of those guys got there.

It was a cyclical thing, IMO. Admiral set the tone for TD, TD set the tone for Manu and TP, The Big 3 set the tone for Judas and Judas fucked the franchise over and now look at us. That being said, TD is the greatest Spurs player of all-time.

I can agree with all that. I still think Manu shouldn't have retired and went to another contender for another year or two to help get them over the hump. He still had a lot of game left.

If he was truly great he would've been paid more and hired somewhere else.
Braindrain has destroyed the Spurs infrastructure and the real culture.
Everyone with a pulse was hired and sometimes fired elsewhere. What else could explain how Brian Wright, an intern with a lotto Magic team and briefly a scout with crappy Detroit was able to get next in line as GM? Because everyone else was gone.
Same with the assistant coaches. The only reason Becky is still there is the glass ceiling. The other coaches are kids with no other experience.

The silver linings are getting harder to find in these games tbh. (D White’s career high 7 3s?)
I know the Tank Crew has valid points about lottery (perhaps franchise altering) talent being available in the draft but still, I hate playing like this and rooting for Ls when some small adjustments and suitable personnel are trapped on the bench...

There’ve been times when the talent on this team wasn’t so great but you knew they would out smart the other team. come up with a high iq play to swing the game. I think the Spurs are one of those dumb teams now. Yikes.

Spurs had talent in the BigThree and also had decent role players, but overall, there was always smart BB with a common chorus from the other teams "Spurs take care of the little things" that make a big difference when added up.
Now, the smartness had been replaced with low BB IQ and reliable mediocrity.

This, tbh. This is pretty much how I feel. We are not a contender so we need more talent, but at the same time we barely lost and Vassell only got 12 minutes and Luka none at all. Frustrating, and I don't have the answers.

Who would have thought? Five generational talents (+ Robinson & Kawhi) were better players than Derozan, Murray, White & Co.
Spurs fans should get over it and understand that they got lucky with drafting such unique talent and that it's not replicable. Be happy and thankful for the successful years, but stop living in the past and look forward to the future. To be constantly compared to the Big3 doesn't make things easier for the current and future players.

This has nothing to do with talent. Like mentioned above - some of the guys been together 3 years and can’t execute a simple play. They can’t even run a fast-break for crying out loud.
I sat through that entire Tank for Timmy season - I get it. But you can’t excuse some of the low iq shit happening on the court. Trae Young had 5 fouls like come on.

Going from bottom 5 in league to contending is very hard. You risk a losing culture, higher profile rookies coming into a losing culture and small market, you will get more divas and fighting. Rudy and Patty are great ambassadors and they are here to mentor and showcase themselves for free agency in return giving SA a good reputation for free agents by doing right by their current and previous ones.

What did you think about that '96-'97 team? I was very young back then, but I actually liked them. I thought they played hard. The had a lot of players out due to injury that season and at one point of the season when D-Rob was due back, I read no-one really wanted to play them in the first round of the playoffs if they got healthy and made the playoffs. I thought Dominique Wilkins played hard for us too. Sucks that he didn't get a chance to be on a contending Spurs team.
Anyway, are you putting the low bbiq down to the players mostly, or do you think coaching is also playing a big part in that?
Edit : Not sure if the score is correct, Warriors are down 53 to the Raptors at the end of the 3rd quarter. Ouch.

EricB, who seems to be clued via someone/people in the Spurs organization constantly says they were not looking to trade Mills at all unless the offer blew them away (they were never going to get such an offer, so no trade was ever likely to happen). Anyway, it sounds like they really want to keep him and I really, really want to let him go. I wanted him to leave the year he got the 50M contract). He'd fit much better on a Championship contender type of team as the 7th or 8th man in an off the bench role. He's detrimental on this team as a closing 5 player with a Steph Curry like green light that he seems to have been given by Pop. I'm really worried the Spurs are going to do something stupid like re-signing him for an exorbitant amount of money again.
