When SCOTUS gutted the VRA, the justification was that the USA had come a long way since the 1960s, so Federal "pre-clearance" of voting changes in Confederate states was no longer necessary.

Within hours, the Confederate states implemented voter suppression that would not have passed pre-clearance.

The Constitution, the corrupt, politicized SCOTUS and Federal judiciary, the corrupt police state, the corrupt MIC, etc are proof that America is fucked and unfuckable.
