forgive, I forgot about Danny Green.....still not in my top 10 though. You are a youngin.....no Moore, Mitchell, Robertson.....btw, my older bros would probably have Nader, Dampier, Silas, or Kenon on their rosters.....but I was too young to remember any of them. Artis Gilmore almost made my top 10, I loved me some A-Train as a kid.

Manu - as much as I love Timmy, Manu is the heart and soul of the Big 3. His unselfishness to come from the bench when he is the leader of the Argentinian Olympic Gold team and a superstar at his own right. 2005 Manu with the long hair was my favorite time.

Timmy, the great Duncan. Normally I would put him on top as the best ever Spur, and arguably top 5 NBA players all time. He made it all happen for the Spurs and the city of San Antonio.

Tony. He had the teardrop, the spin cycle, a one man fast break, and at his size led the league in field goal percentage. Many underestimated his athleticism, but he is as fearless as anyone who has played the game. I’d put him on any team and he would will that team to win because he is just a fierce leader. The city of San Antonio was lucky to have 3 super alpha hit at the same time, and having Pop harness that to win 4 rings was pure luck for San Anton.

After that, I have to put everybody else as supporting cast:

DRob, the Admiral. He was the reason I became a Spurs fan after the biggest turnaround at that time. A freakish athlete. The first big man I saw driving from one side of the court after a defensive block, dribbling like a guard for a monster dunk! But with all that, something was missing, that ump that made champions. Maybe he was too smart? Basketball was not everything for him? Too nice? People say he didn’t have enough supporting cast? Arguably I’d put Timmy in his place with the same squad, I think Timmy gets a ring or two. I think Timmy made TP, Manu greater players, that DRob would have not, just my humble opinion.

Iceman. He was the Spurs icon, that golden era when everybody had the afro. The guy was beautiful. His silky touch, that finger roll.

Bowen, Bruuuce! Yep, there was no 3 championships without Bruce. Those closeups and busy hands. Many teams hated him, but if you’re a Spurs fan, you love him. I always thought any Spurs championship team had that defensive catalyst, Elliot, Bruce, Kawhi. And lost when we didn’t have that pesky perimeter defender, who checked the PG’s or the best player of the other team. And not because of my hate for what nephew did, but I would say he did the best work of that, the longest time, against Kobe, Nash, Allen, young LeBron, the list goes on and on.

Kawhi, I hate to put him in my list. But the guy was once a Spur. Now that’s that!

Elliott, the Ninja. The Memorial Day classic will always be a part of Spurs most iconic shot. And I enjoy him also as Spurs analyst. “Nothing to see there” after a wrong call is always funny to me.

I wouldn’t comment on the earlier Spurs, and deservingly belong here, but I didn’t get to watch enough of them. With that:

Avery, the General. He’s not the best choice, shots were not reliable, too small. But he got a big heart. Avery was every part of that 90’s Spurs that I rooted for against the Blazers, and cowbells at Utah, against Detlef Schrempt. It’s hard to imagine DRob without the General passing him the ball.

Boris Diaw, the best passing big men (okay there was Sabonis but he’s not a Spur :lol so that’s that). But that Beautiful Game would not be complete without Boris in the mix. His tales of coming in practice in flip flops with a cup of coffee is just images of good times. I miss this guy.

The rest I have to include because they are very part of the Beautiful Game!

Tiago, the Spaniard. Yup, the whole gang will be on this list. Underestimated big man, who bang inside to get his team another shot. This guy is why I’m not happy with Poeltl’s efforts. This guy worked hard.

Patty. Yes there was a time I liked Patty :lol. He was fearless and will hit those clutch 3’s.

Danny Green. 3 and D specialist.

Green is a turncoat in my eyes. He plays both sides of the fence. In the Kawhi saga he was routinely kissing Kawhi's ass and saying things were good and then when he got traded went off on the Spurs by bringing up their medical staff. He knew that would land hits with the media but then tried to placate his statement by saying he liked the medical staff. His response at 32:00 to this question about Kawhi's legacy with the Spurs and Rudy Gay's response pretty much illustrates how phony he is. I don't respect people who waver and try to play both sides of the fence.

i thought his take was pretty accurate -- kawhi is one of the best players to be on the spurs, but the way he left makes spurs fans hate his guts

Miss the cut for me:
Kawhi. Great player, but...
Bowen. Great defender, but let's be honest: he Zaza'd shooters long before Zaza did.
Horry. Mr Big Shot & Mr Intangibles, but I always thought he was too laid back outside of the big moments.
Jax. Likely would've added another title to the total if he'd stayed in San Antonio. Fluctuated too wildly between team first and me first.

Manu ring on the Spurs without Duncan? Lmfao... manu is my 2nd fav spur ever, but let's be real...he wouldn't have...what year would he have won it?

Secondly, take the 2nd best player from ANY championship team and they likely would lose...why is it only Duncan ppl try to use that argument to diminish his greatness? Yes...he didn't score every single point, get every single rebound and assist...but that standard isn't used for any other all time great...matter of fact, Duncan may be the only all time great to NOT have another high draft pick or already great player team up with him on a championship ring run...he made his players better instead of dependent and he doesn't get the credit for it

Because the second best player on any championship team is truly all star level.
But my point is still a good one. Take away Manu and Duncan still has all star Parker.
What's the excuse to not ring?

By the way, this list reflects who my favorite Spurs were, not a ranking of who I thought were the better players. Tim Duncan was undoubtedly the greatest Spur. I think an argument can be made for Manu to be # 2 behind Duncan but David Robinson had more responsibility, stature and love for the City. He carried the franchise for 10 years before Tim put the team over the top.

Pretty close there. I go back and forth between Manu and Robinson.
I've a soft spot for David. He didn't always have the best supporting cast and often mis-utilized.
It still sad how that team from his rookie year loaded with talent fell apart due to injuries, bad behavior and poor management

so is there any argument that LMA isn't the third best big for the franchise? His reign as a top player was short but he came in his prime and kept the team afloat. Below him are title role players like tiago, diaw, bonner, nestorovic. Above him are the big 2 career bigs.

by default guards usually get liked more for their ball handling and recency bias works against LMA (hard to feel bad he's gone because he overstayed his prime) but 4 years from now when the spurs have chewed through a few young prospects while peortle has up and down games, i expect LMA to rise in fan appreciation.

it pains me to admit it… Kawhi Leonard :depressed

honorable mentions: Willie Anderson

I’m too young to have seen George Gervin, Artis Gilmore, or any of that generation.
