Untrained deputies picked for “undercover” vice assignments — only to be molested and traumatized by superiors. Prostitution stings devolving into “booze-fueled playgrounds.” And a concerned Precinct 1 Constable Office’s employee, fired after she reported the alleged misconduct to the department’s internal affairs division.

Those are among allegations (https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/crime/article/female-deputies-sex-assault-allegations-harris-16198080.php)laid out in a bombshell civil rights lawsuit filed Monday morning in federal court against Harris County, Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen and two of his top-ranking superiors.

The third deputy constable alleged that she was assigned to one sting — at a massage parlor — where she was sexually assaulted.

“In order to appease HCCO-1 supervisors and comply with orders, (the deputy constable) was sent in to disrobe with a known rapist, like a lamb to the slaughter, and allow him to assault her,” the lawsuit states. “Only after the assault was she ordered to give the ‘bust’ signal so that an arrest could be made.”

It is a general feature of American society today that when males are placed in positions of authority without adequate accountability, an unacceptably large percentage of those males abuse that authority towards sexual predation.

It is not clear to me whether it has always been this way, and that these days women speak up more to bring things to light, or whether something has changed. Some of the ‘olds’ insist that things have changed, and that institutions that used to teach honorable behavior have become utterly corrupted, where men feel utterly entitled to consume women for sex like they are food and drink.

I have wondered whether the statistical decline in sexual violence since the rise of Internet pornography was real, or whether it actually meant that so many law enforcement officials had developed mind-warping porn addictions that they couldn’t recognize sexual violence anymore.
