Arenas, Camby named NBA Players of the Week

NEW YORK (Ticker) - After averaging a league-best 31 points, Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas on Monday was named the NBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
Arenas, who scored an NBA season-high 43 points on 15-of-20 shooting in a 110-95 triumph over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, connected on 54.4 percent of his shots and averaged 7.7 assists en route to leading the Wizards to a 2-1 record last week.
Denver Nuggets center Marcus Camby was named the Western Conference Player of the Week after averaging 16.7 rebounds and 5.0 blocks - both league highs - and 19.3 points.

The oft-injured 7-footer registered a double-double in all three games to lead Denver to a 2-1 mark for the week. On Sunday, Camby collected 18 points, an NBA season-high 22 rebounds and seven blocks in a 102-91 triumph over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Other nominees in the East included guards Larry Hughes of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Detroit Pistons' Chauncey Billups, Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat, the Milwaukee Bucks' Mo Williams and the Orlando Magic's Steve Francis, plus Indiana Pacers forward Ron Artest.
Also nominated in the West were forwards Elton Brand of the Los Angeles Clippers, the Portland Trail Blazers' Zach Randolph and Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves, as well as San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker
