Go Boston up five in the 3rd over the hot Pistons - what a screwed up night so far with Spurs down 10 right now.

Ideal night Spurs roar back Pistons show they are mortal again.

Something is very odd with your above statistics! Props to your team for coming back again to take a lead - they are really playing well right now.

Also, home court would be huge for the Pistons but they are basically the same team (albeit a pretty damm good team with perhaps the best starting five in the game).

Meanwhile, the slow starting and reloaded with even greater talent Spurs will surge = would be a very good series, probably 6-7 games again.

Yeah, it looks like they coast in the first half on the defensive side of the ball. Did you hear Pierce declared himself a 1st team defensive player?

Chauncey was lights out at the end of the 3rd...

Pistons win by 15, outscore the Celts 67 - 42 in the second half.

There's a moral in there somewhere. :)

One half does not make a whole? :lol

They still haven't played anyone good, see if they can beat San Antonio, Dallas, Washington, Indiana, Cleveland, Miami, or Milwaukee. Once they beat a real NBA then you can come back and talk.

Detroit will come back to earth - Flip will ensure that somehow!

:rolleyes

Flip is the REASON the Pistons are playing so well. Even they admit it. 7-0 beats the 12-12 start from last year, that's for sure.

I actually have to agree on that. Flip has been nothing but good for us. The team needed a new coach. A new voice. And Flip fits in perfectly.

Pistons are heaps better with Flip

i know ill get roasted by everyone on this board but i think Pistons would have won the championship last season if their coach was more concerned about the team and the NBA finals instead of his future dealings.

Ive never liked Larry Brown.

I liked him for about 3 months (offseason after the championship). Aside from that... Not so much.

Enjoy the ride Pistons fans with your teams fast start and good play so far.

However, the Pacers still the team to beat in the East IMO.

By the way the best coach the Pistons have had or should have still now sits on the bench of the Pacers period.

Pistons have a nasty road B2B

Fri @ Rockets (maybe McGrady will Arenas them)

Sat @ Mavs (Mavs offense is pretty much just Dirk, again tonight vs Nugz)

<sigh> Okay Mr. Sensible Killjoy, I'm still happy. :lol

7 wins no losses with 6 of those wins coming against teams that made the playoffs last year. Not too shabby in my opinion.

The best defensive coach, no doubt. The Detroit defense was born and raised under RC, and dropped in LB's lap like a birthday present.

But I don't think Carlisle's "3-on-5" offensive system was exactly a stroke of genius.

For the record, I am picking Detroit vs. SA again.

HCA will prevail. So whoever gets it is the champion. Book it.

Agreed. I can't wait!!! Seriously though, nothing would make me happier than a re-match. If the Pistons make it to the Finals, and for some reason the Spurs don't, it honestly will not mean as much to me. I truly want our 2 teams to face off for the next 2 or 3 years. Considering our players/contracts, this is a very realistic proposition.

Let's hope for the best.

Yeah Im kind of interested in how the players/fans react once the Pistons hit a losing skid and actually handle some adversity with flip. I'm not too concerned due to this team being a veteran battle tested squad, I just hope the discipline that Larry instilled in this team doens't complete vanish away and stays with them.

01-02 50-32
02-03 50-32

03-04 34-24 .586 Before Rasheed Wallace
03-04 20-04 .833 After Rasheed Wallace
03-04 54-28 .659 Total

04-05 12-12 .500 with Ben Wallace out 8 games, Larry Brown out 5 games, and McDyess 5 games
04-05 42-16 .724 (after 12-12 start)
04-05 38-15 .717 after January 1st (best in the NBA)
04-05 54-28 .659 Total

If you take the 20-4 from 03-04 after the Pistons got Rasheed and the 42-16 in 04-05 after the Pistons got Brown, Ben, and McDyess back that would be 62-20 or a .756 winning percentage. If no one gets injured for more then a couple games I think this team will win 58 to 60 games, it will be hard to win more then that playing that one extra game against each Central division team. This Pistons team has played .756 ball with everyone healthy.

The Pistons went 38-15 (.717) after January 1st last year even with losing these games:

- 4 games in a row in January (4 games in 7 days, 3 of them on the road)
Tue 18 @ Orlando L 101 - 103 -2
Fri 21 @ Milwaukee L 86 - 89 -3
Sat 22 Chicago L 89 - 100 -11
Mon 24 @ Minnesota L 83 - 86 -3

- 3 games in row in March, the last half of a 6 games west coast trip
Thu 3 @ Phoenix L 97 - 100 lead by 12, up 76-66 with 1:21 left in the 3rd qtr.
Fri 4 @ Seattle L 87 - 95 lead 73-71 with 10:24 to go
Sun 6 @ Sacramento L 85 - 100

another 3 games in a row in March
Tue 22 @ Cleveland L 76 - 91 Carlos Delfino starting @ SG
Wed 23 @ Philadelphia L 84 - 107 Carlos Delfino starting @ SG
Fri 25 Indiana L 81 - 94 Lindsey Hunter starting @ SG (bomb scare night)

4 games in 7 days, 3 of them on the road (each road loss by 3 points or less), a west coast trip that fell apart, and Rip Hamilton getting hurt accounted for 10 of the Pistons 15 losses after Jan 1. The fact that Delfino was hurt and Brown didn't trust Arroyo or Dupree made it tough for the starters to have to carry the weight each and every night.
