I personally inspected stack one night shift my junior year because a bunch of freshmen were allowed to do a shitty job of wiring stack (fyi I was not a JRP, just the only time I had that year to get on stack with my classload). There had been plenty of concern raised over the years, especially from the engineering faculty. The problem was, tradition is paramount on the campus and the administration was not too willing to challenge that. That's how a bad situation was allowed to foster.

They offered, as did a HUGE number of engineers to re-design the structure and keep it an official on-campus tradition. The administration had to crater to legal pressure, though, and that's why it is an off-campus and officially unsanctioned event.

While I do root for the Longhorns, Im not crazy about the Eyes of Texas.

I love this rivalry because of the tradition...but I do have to give that edge to the Ags. A midnight yell practice sounds a lot more fun than a candlelight vigil. Then again, no female cheerleaders is creepy. But Sarge gets the nod with the whole "scoring" tradition. Can't beat that.
